A Princess by Christmas
By: Jennifer Faye
Releasing October 1st, 2014
Prince Alexandro Castanovo arrives in snowy New York intent on protecting his royal family from scandal. And when Reese Harding—down-to-earth and heart-stoppingly beautiful—finds room for him at her inn, it seems like the perfect twist of fate.
Not long ago Reese’s world came crumbling down, shaking her foundations. But this enigmatic stranger intrigues her! She’s learned to be wary of secrets…but when she discovers Alex’s true identity, might there be enough magic in the air to make this regular American girl a princess by Christmas…?
It is my pleasure to welcome Jennifer Faye, author of A Princess by Christmas, to Room With Books.
Susan, what do you do when you are not writing?
You mean I’m supposed to do something besides write??? LOL. I really don’t have much free time. But on those rare occasions aside from doing the laundry and cooking, I try to make time to read. It’s obviously a passion of mine and there are so many great books out there that I want to read. 🙂
Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?
- Seuss gave me the love of the written word.
- Judy Blume kept me turning the pages as a kid.
- Johanna Lindsey, Kathleen E. Woodiwiss and a whole host of talented Harlequin authors opened up the world of romance to me as a teen.
Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?
There were many. I had much to learn over the years. But in the end, persistence does pay off. And a friend gave me a very important piece of advice—it’s all about what you do after the “R” (rejection).
If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
NOT to see the future—bad things happen and I don’t want to know about them ahead of time. 😉
NOT x-ray vision—that could be downright scary. LOL.
I’ll take the power to fly. Nothing like the ability to take to the skies. 🙂
What was your first job?
A drive-thru cashier for a fast food restaurant. I still remember washing potatoes between customers. Definitely not one of my fondest memories. LOL.
What types of books do you write?
Fun, Heartwarming Contemporary Romance
Who’s your main audience?
Hmm…good question. I guess you’d have to ask them. 😉 But I will say that I have met some of the kindest, most generous and supportive readers/bloggers around. And I’m thrilled to call them friends.
Out of all of your characters, which is your favorite?
Oh my, these questions are getting tough. I honestly couldn’t pick a favorite. I fall in love with each of my heroes as I write their stories. But I’ve got to admit that Prince Charming was always one of my favorite characters and so Prince Alex in A PRINCESS BY CHRISTMAS just might have an extra tug on my heartstrings, but shhh…don’t tell my other characaters. 🙂
What does your writing schedule look like?
Right now, I’m doing writing related things seven days a week. As for actual writing, I start by eleven each week day, stop to make dinner about four and depending on what admin stuff is pressing, I’ll write more in the evening.
Do you use your OWN experiences?
Umm…no. That would be sooo boring. LOL. I have a big imagination, so it definitely comes in handy.
Was it easy to pick the title for your book?
Very easy! I didn’t pick it. The very talented M&B editors selected all of my titles including A PRINCESS BY CHRISTMAS.
If you could pick one profession other than author, which would you choose?
In another life, I was a statistician. I’ve always loved numbers so I’d probably do that again. BUT hopefully that need will never arise. 😉
What are you currently working on?
A very exciting project!!! And I really want to share more details…but I can’t yet. I will soon! It’s something a bit different than my Harlequins. If you want to be one of the first to know the details, sign up for my newsletter (you can find the sign-up button on the top right of my home page) My subscribers are the first to know important stuff and they also have access to special giveaways. 🙂
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Pistachio
Night owl, or early bird? Early bird
Red, or white wine? Red
Roller Coasters or Water Rides? Roller Coasters
Swimming in the ocean or a pool? Pool
Walking or fitness club? Walking
Any last words?
Sometimes there are stories that resonate stronger than others—it was like that for A PRINCESS BY CHRISTMAS. There’s just something about royalty and Christmas rolled together to create a stirring romance that pulls at my heart. I just had to tell Reese’s story and give her a Prince Charming of her very own. I really do hope you enjoy their story and that it’ll bring a smile to your heart.
