TARRAGON: DRAGON MAGE Book Tour

After hundreds of years, the gates to Tarragon are open once more, fulfilling age-old prophecy. However, Anwen’s journey is far from over. The dragons still sleep and she has no clue how to wake them. Forced to retreat from the Mountain, she and her newfound friends must devise a new plan to wake the inhabitants of Tarragon.

Meanwhile, the Mage Circle, a group of dragon mages with a vendetta, is camped outside the Gates. Calling on allies of their own, they will stop at nothing to gain control of the Dragon City and all who dwell inside.

To complicate matters even more, Anwen’s mother has joined the party. But even with the help of all her friends, can Anwen overcome the ordeals set before her or will this spell the end of the dragons and the world as we know it?

Top Ten List

Top Ten Favorite desserts

  1. Ice cream. Who doesn’t love ice cream? It’s like the standard go to
  2. Cheesecake. What’s not to love? Especially if it’s one of those Oreo ones.
  3. Coconut cream pie. I don’t normally go for coconut, but there’s just something about it in pie form that can’t be denied.
  4. Brownies. What can I say besides Chocolate?
  5. Blintzes. If you haven’t tried them, you’re missing out. It’s like a crepe but not rolled, and it’s pan fried.
  6. Pudding, especially pistachio or cheesecake flavored, I mean, come on! It’s creamy. It’s rich. It’s prefect. And you can add in whatever you want.
  7. Cobbler, usually apple or peach. You’ve got that sweet crunchy stuff and that gooey filling. Yum.
  8. Chocolate Silk Pie. It’s Chocolate! In a graham cracker crust.
  9. Sugar Cookies, like the melt in your mouth coated with sugar kind, not the cheap tastes like flour stuff you get at the grocery store. Home made all the way!
  10. A Lie, if you don’t know what this is, you’re missing out. It’s a pie baked into a cake. (Some call it something along the lines of a cherpumpkin but my version’s better). Or if, you want to take it a step further, do a glacee pie backed into a giant brownie and decorate it like a cake to have a Conspiracy.)

Q&A with the Author:

What is the thing you struggle with the most while writing? And how do you defeat it?

I think the thing I struggle most with is finding the time, and sometimes motivation, to work on any project. With a lot of projects on my plate, it’s sometimes super hard to not just throw my hands up in the air and call it done. When those times happen, I take a breather, work on another project for a while, then come back with fresh eyes. Seems to work every time.

What kind of music do you listen to while you write?

The kind of music I listen to depends on what kind of story/scene I’m working on. I have specific playlists based on the general story, the type of scene, and what emotional response I want to draw from my characters as I’m writing. Those lists are constantly changing, so it’s hard to pinpoint what will be on any list at any given time. But for Tarragon, I’ve been listening to a lot of Lindsey Sterling and Imagine Dragons, with some techno and remixes mixed in.

Snippet

“When are you going to tell her?”

Tyler opened his eyes at Courtney’s question. “Tell her what, exactly?”

Courtney didn’t meet his eyes as she rummaged in her pack for something to munch on. “About what you are.” She pulled out a packet of granola and opened it.

Tyler’s eyes went amber for a brief moment, but returned to their usual blue. “I don’t know. One thing at a time, I guess. She’s already been through a lot. I don’t want to overwhelm her.”

“A bit late for that, don’t you think,” Courtney understated with a roll of her eyes. “She’s been attacked, knocked out, drowned, and who knows what else. I’m sure hearing you’re a dragon will hardly make a dent in the bucket, if you know what I mean.”

Tyler smiled at that. “True. But what if I’m not ready to tell her?”

Snippets

Snippet 1: A breeze seemed to swirl around inside the enclosure. It swept the dust particles upwards in a spiral, much like powdered snow when stirred by a quick passage of air. Except that shapes began to form inside the column of swirling sand.

Anwen moved forward in eagerness, not sure what was going on, or how the sand managed to stay within the confines of the circle. But it was what was happening inside the swirl of dust that caught her attention.

Small clouds of sand began to form striking images. They reminded her of the puppets from the festival, some long and lean, with others shorter and stockier. Most had wings protruding from joints just below sinuous necks, or further down long spiny backs. One figure reared its head and spouted a swirl of gold colored-dust that undulated like flames.

Dragons.

Q and A with the Author:

What is your favorite part of writing?

I love it when the characters talk to me and tell me their story, because it really is their story.

Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?

I want all of my readers to get a sense of being able to achieve the seemingly impossible. Too many people feel trapped by circumstances, weak, unloved, or any number of negative things. I want to show them that no matter how bad life is, they can do something to make it better.

Most teenagers don’t have a voice talking in their heads, but that’s pretty normal for Kas. It’s been there her whole life, giving her directions, keeping her from harm. When the voice advises against the family picnic in the mountains, she’s sure there’s a reason, but convincing her mom is another matter.
While in the mountains, Kas accidentally stumbles on a gateway to another dimension. Almost immediately, her life is in peril. From a disembodied man known only as Milord and a hoard of hooded men who want her soul, she doesn’t know who to trust in this strange place where dreams become reality.
As Kas learns more about who she is and how she came to the Waymeet of Worlds, it becomes clear that someone is lying to her. But is it the voice she’s known her whole life or the new friends she finds in Milord’s castle. Choosing the wrong people to trust could cost her soul and prevent her from fulfilling her destiny.

Snippet!

“Don’t turn around. I don’t want to frighten you.” The voice was definitely masculine.
I turned around anyway, expecting to see someone, anyone. I saw nothing, nothing
but bookshelves with more books. “Where are you? Who are you?” I leaned against
the nearest shelf, glad that it was sturdy, as unmovable as a mountain. I hoped
I wasn’t too obvious about doing it. My heart was pounding so fast now that it
made breathing difficult and I felt somewhat dizzy because of it.
“Look down,
near the end of this shelf. You will see my shadow. Don’t be afraid.” His voice
was gentle, maybe a tenor. His words were careful, caressing. It was hard to
not trust that voice. It was like a gently flowing stream filled with sunlight.

And a few fun author interview questions

Given unlimited resources, what would be your ideal writing environment?
I would like an office space filled with cabinets and books for research purposed, preferably a hard wood or cherry stain. There should be a nice niche for my computer, and a place for an old school typewriter. (picture attached)

Where do you actually write?

I usually write in a combination of places. When at work, I write during down times in a notebook. After work, it’s writing/typing up what I’ve written at my computer in the dining room of my apartment.
