When you build a road from one place to another, it won’t always be a straight line. Sometimes you have to add curves to move around the obstacles. Life is like that as well. Sometimes we have a straight path of what we want in life and we do everything we can to follow that path until suddenly a mountain appears and we have to veer off course to get around it. Even though we face those curves, it doesn’t mean we won’t end up on the same path we started. Then again, sometimes we discover roads that we never knew existed and that will get us to where we want to be.
Derrick Collins lives in Nashville TN with his six year old daughter, Katelyn. Derrick found love once before in a girl named Mary Jane, until she moved away to Florida to fulfill her dreams of becoming an engineer. Derrick’s life hasn’t been the same since Mary Jane left two years ago. His days are spent working long hours in order to give his daughter a good life. His social life is non-existent these days and he’s decided it’s time for a change. Derrick sets out to find his happily ever after once and for all.
Mary Jane Evans’ life took a different path than she ever dreamed. She moved to Florida for an intern program at Disney. She left her life in Nashville that included childhood friends, family, and the first man she ever loved, Derrick Collins. Now it’s time to decide if she will move back to that life or stay in the new one she has created for herself. Will Derrick still be waiting for her? What if she’s been gone too long and he no longer cares?
Can these two find their paths back to each other or were there too many Curves in the Road?
Excerpt from Derrick’s POV
“I heard you like to country line dance. Was I misinformed?” I asked her with a smile and a wink.
“No, you weren’t. I don’t do it much anymore though.”
Putting on my sexiest grin, I attempted to persuade her with my charms. “Please, for me?”
She relaxed a bit, and I knew I had her convinced. We stepped out on the floor with the rest of the crowd, and I followed her lead as she showed me a few of the steps to go along with the song that played. I picked it up pretty quickly; she was an excellent teacher.
We had danced like that for about an hour before we were both laughing at ourselves and each other. Seeing her let loose and enjoy herself was incredibly sexy on her. The dancing turned the heat up in the room, and beads of sweat trickled down her neck and fell into her cleavage directing my eyes to follow the trail and notice how the way the dress stuck to her every curve.
Unable to hold back, I grabbed her hand and dragged her over to the corner where I pressed her against the wall. My mouth pressed against hers softly at first, though the passion between us quickly ignited. Her hands are tangled in my hair as she pulls me closer. She hitched her leg around my waist, and I felt my body instantly respond to hers. This woman was driving me insane with lust. I grabbed her hips and ground mine against her to let her feel my want. It had been too long since I’d been with a woman, and I’d never been one to get this excited after one date. Mary Jane moaned into my mouth, and it made me groan.
“Let’s go to the car.”
We practically ran back to the parking lot. When I opened the back door, she slid in first and lay back waiting for me. I slipped in, locked the doors behind me and moved my mouth to her neck. She scratched her nails down my back slowly, then lifted my shirt and ran her fingernails over my bare skin. “Mary Jane,” I moaned her name as my lips found the swell of her breast. I slid my hand up her leg, pushing her dress higher until I felt her lace panties. Leaning back to look at her, I whisper, “Damn, MJ, you’re beautiful.”
She pulled me back to her mouth, “Touch me,” she begged. My fingers slipped inside her panties, and she threw her head back and gasped. Her breathing increased as I sat back and watched her enjoy my touch. Her legs clamped down on my hand a few minutes later as she came in a fierce orgasm that shook her entire body. Suddenly she seemed embarrassed again. “I’m sorry.” She said as she sat up and fixed her dress.
“For what?” I asked. “That was the sexiest thing I’ve ever witnessed.”
“Really?” She asked, honestly surprised.
