About the Book

Petir takes a rough tumble in the Connecticut woods, but awakens in the middle of old England. His instinct to freak out is tempered by the arrival of a fair maiden wearing a bow…and arrow. Throwing caution to the wind, Petir decides he has nothing to lose by pursuing Maid Rianne. But when she is captured by the enemy, a geek with no ability to defend himself must find a way to rescue the fair maiden.

Excerpt

“How fare thee this evening?” Rianne tried to hide the heat rising in her face, for the sharp eyes of Mistress Molly never missed a thing.

“Well enough. Nothing a few moments of peace cannot cure. Running a camp is similar to running a household, but on a grander scale. And you, m’dear? Thinking of your beloved?”

“He’s not my belov— Wait, who? Lord Robert? Of course! Why would I not? Of course I was thinking of Lord Robert.” She fumbled with the jar of salve.

Mistress Molly raised her brow. “Aye, of course you were. And how fares thy stranger? Healer Aileen tells me he has strained his leg.”

“He is not my stranger.” Rianne drew herself up. “As her apprentice, I have been instructed to provide massage and a hot compress, and nothing more.”

“And nothing more?” Her words were a bit garbled by the ribbon clamped in her teeth as she gathered her hair. “And what more would there be? After all, he is not what one would call handsome, is he?”

An image of Lord Petir’s face flashed into Rianne’s mind. “Well, perhaps not handsome in the classic sense, but he is attractive in his own way.” She plucked at the small wooden pendent hanging from her neck. “His smile is somewhat lopsided, but in an endearing manner. And his—“

Rianne scowled at the ear-to-ear grin beaming at her. She had walked right into that one. “For shame! I am betrothed to Lord Robert! Lord Petir is my patient, and nothing more!”

About the Author

MediaKit_AuthorPhoto_FairlyCertainI’m DEBORAH ANN DAVIS, and I write Quirky New/Young Adult Fiction with a Twist. I began writing when searching for inspiration for my 5th grade English Journal. Lo and behold, my world was full of funny tales just waiting to be told. It never occurred to me to pursue writing, not even when I discovered my flare for telling stories at college parties.

After a string of undergrad majors, I realized I could reach a captive audience EVERY DAY in the public school system. As you probably know, teenagers love to laugh, and what could be more entertaining than Biology, Earth Science, and Environmental Science? I jumped into teaching with both feet and loved it for 27 years. It came with an added bonus: Once teens know you like to laugh, they want to make you laugh. Go figure.

Twelve years after our first kiss, I reunited with, and married my childhood sweetheart. Together we coached our daughter’s AAU Basketball Team, which swept States two years in a row. (Yay!) Then, for several years, our daughter and our money went to college.

During a particularly nasty bout of Lyme disease, I turned to Fitness to boost my Health, and to Writing to boost my Happiness. Currently, I am a healthy and happy Educational Speaker and a Certified Personal Trainer who loves to write.

We presently reside on a lovely lake in Connecticut. When I’m not writing novels for my Love of Fairs series, I enjoy dabbling with living a sustainable life, dancing, playing outside, and laughing really hard every day. I also promote increasing movement throughout your day as Wiggle Writer in my Merry Meddling blog at http://deborahanndavis.com/merry-meddling/.

Thank you. Being the Science Geek that I am, this one is purple, Fairly Safe, the second one, will be blue, and the third one, which I’m writing now, will be green…the colors of the Electromagnetic Spectrum (the rainbow).

Thanks! The cover concept was by Becca Davis, and the graphic design was by Roxy Ryan, both of who did the cover for Fairly Safe, my next book out later this year. I wanted something that looked different.

Patricia, Thank you for this opportunity to introduce Fairly Certain to your audience. I’m really looking forward to the day.

Isaac Asimov (I, Robot) and Anne McCaffery (Dragons of Pern) both oldies but goodies, stimulated my imagination more consistently than any others. Asimov gave me my appreciation for the unexpected twist in a story. McCaffery introduced me to people from a highly advance technological society forced to live off the land.

You’re welcome. Thank you for taking the time to visit. I hope you enjoy a nice bowl of oatmeal this morning. After all, it is National Oatmeal Month. And it’s a glorious day. We just got 2 inches of fluffy snow in CT…better late than never!
