The Keller Family Series, Book 7
by Bernadette Marie
In one moment Christian Keller’s life was changed. Now as he picks up the pieces he wonders if he can possibly recoup what he lost.
Victoria Lincoln had a promising future with Christian until an accident took the life of her sister and left her as guardian to her two small children.
Their lives have gone in different directions, but Christian and Victoria’s paths will cross again. It will take a lot of change to pick up where they left off—if either of them can.
Scott reached for her hand and interlaced their fingers. He ran his thumb over hers in the most intimate of gestures and Victoria thought of how sweet they must look—this family dressed in their best, very cozy in Scott’s Lexus.
She let the tension roll out of her shoulders.
Scott gave her a glance and then turned his eyes back to the road. “So how long did you and Christian Keller date?”
The tension was back, but this time it stiffened every muscle in her body. The weight in her stomach was back too and it literally made her sick. She knew she’d tightened the grip she had on Scott’s hand.
“What makes you think we dated?”
He chuckled and continued to stroke her hand with his thumb. “The way he complimented your dress without looking at it. The grip he used when shaking my hand. The awkwardness you didn’t have with anyone else. Should I go on?”
“Please don’t.” She rolled her head to the side to look at him. He was handsome—more rugged than Christian with strong features and a dark completion. He was a natural in a suit—where she’d seen Christian squirm. There was an athletic build under that Armani and she’d seen it. They’d taken the kids swimming at his condo building last week. It had been the first time she’d been in a swim suit in over a year, but he hadn’t looked at the scars that riddled her body. He’d made her feel secure in her own skin.
Victoria took a breath. “We dated up until about eight months ago.”
He nodded and guilt plagued her.
“Okay, we didn’t just date. We were engaged.”
It is my pleasure to feature Bernadette Marie, author of Home Run, on Room With Books. Thank you for taking the time to answer my interview questions.
Please, tell me about your book, Home Run, and what inspired you to write it? Home Run is the 7th book in the Keller Family Series, and my readers inspired me to take the books into the next generations. As for the story line, I’ll admit, I’ve had Christian’s story line in my head for so long that I can’t remember where I was inspired with this story. In fact, I knew his fate before I finished his parents’ book. (They are book 2!)
When you start writing a new novel, do you outline the story or do your characters dictate what will happen? I’m not in control at all when it comes to outlining. I have an opening paragraph and the characters seem to take me from there. Everything I get down on the screen is fresh from my head and it flows that way.
What is something about you your readers would be surprised to know? That sometimes they come to me with something in one of my books and I have to go look because I don’t even remember writing it. This is the way I roll. I write it one time and send it on. So sometimes they read me multiple times and I saw the story as I wrote it.
If you could write with any other author who would it be any why? Oh WOW, I have no idea. I love the work of Lisa J. Hobman, Gretchen Galway, and Susan Lohrer. All are new to the market in the past few years and each has an AMAZING voice! I think they all would be a hoot to work with on a writing project!
When you were little what did you dream of becoming when you grew up and why? In my kindergarten “When I grow up” part of my scrapbook it says a singer, a beautician, and a teacher. I have done all of those in some aspect! I’ve sang at weddings (although now if you asked I’d be a country singer.) I am an award winning professional nail care specialist and hair stylist (beautician is an old word!) And though I have never taught in a classroom everyday I did teach karate and I teach people to write and publish. I’ll take that! But why did I want to be those things? There was someone out there that made it seem like the coolest thing ever!
When did you decide to write and what prompted you to start? The need to fill my calling. I itch when I need to write. I just get crazy if things fill my head. And this has happened my whole life. So I always wrote. But what I did was stop reading. Well in 2007 I picked up a book and thought this is what I need to do! So I did. I wrote 12 books in 2007!
What music inspires your writing? I’m a true country music fan. It speaks to me like no other music ever has. It is magic to me.
What is your favorite breakfast? Toast with jelly or toast with eggs or just toast!
What is your favorite color? I have never had one. Right now I love orange and green though.
What is your favorite movie? You’ve Got Mail
What is your dream car? 1970 Ford Bronco. I want it in that pale green and white interior just like my grandpa’s! And it would be even better if it had and old “Go Bronocos” sticker and an NRA sticker in the window to look JUST like his!

Thank you again, Bernadette, for your time. And thank you for allowing Room With Books to be a part of your tour.
Bernadette Marie has been an avid writer since the early age of 13, when she’d fill notebook after notebook with stories that she’d share with her friends. Her journey into novel writing started the summer before eighth grade when her father gave her an old typewriter. At all times of the day and night you would find her on the back porch penning her first work, which she would continue to write for the next 22 years.
In 2007 – after marriage, filling her chronic entrepreneurial needs, and having five children – Bernadette began to write seriously with the goal of being published. That year she wrote 12 books. In 2009 she was contracted for her first trilogy and the published author was born. In 2011 she (being the entrepreneur that she is) opened her own publishing house, 5 Prince Publishing, and has released contemporary titles and has begun the process of taking on other authors in other genres.
Bernadette spends most of her free time driving her kids to their many events. She is also an accomplished martial artist, working her way to her second degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. An avid reader she loves to meet readers who enjoy reading contemporary romances and she always promises Happily Ever After.
