Book for teen girls receives high honor from annual international award contest
Perry wrote “Stand: Staying Balanced with Answers for Real Teen Life” after meeting with ten teen and tween girls in her home for over two months. The book delves into several difficult issues such as date rape, gender identity, bullying, suicide, cutting, drugs, and pre-marital sex, just to name a few. “Stand” also serves as an informational resource for Perry’s mother/teen daughter conference entitled In Her Shoes. Perry holds a Master’s Degree in Education and Counseling, and is a Certified Instructor in Parenting Classes and Crisis Counseling. Each year, Readers’ Favorite donates books and income to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Additionally, authors who win the annual book award contest donate copies to be sold at the Readers’ Favorite booth at the Miami Book Fair International, the largest book fair in America. Readers’ Favorite is the only vendor at the fair that donates all book fair proceeds to charity. Readers’ Favorite has garnered the Best Website for Authors Award as well as the Honoring Excellence Award from the Association of Independent Authors. The 2017 Readers’ Favorite awards will be handed out in an official ceremony in Miami, Florida on November 18, 2017. About Shannon Perry:
