Blue Bottle Beach by Amie Denman – Mitchell finds Jackie irresistible as he romances her on Blue Bottle Beach, but he has no idea she should be in her cubicle in Chicago balancing the sheets for one of his many companies. Amie is an Amazon bestselling author (Unforgettable Heroes).

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?

I grew up reading Judith Krantz, Jackie Collins, and Colleen McCullough. I can’t believe my mother let me read those books when I was twelve or thirteen, but I loved them! Even though I adore the drama in books like Mistral’s Daughter and The Thorn Birds, as an adult I prefer lighter and funnier books like those of Janet Evanovich and Kristan Higgins.

What was your first job?

My first job was mowing the lawn and trimming around every single tombstone at the local cemetery. All summer long, I listened to Bryan Adams on my Walkman while I mowed the whole graveyard and then started over. I memorized the names of all the deceased and made up stories about them in my head. Now that I tell this story, I’m amazed I don’t write paranormal!

Line

All That’s Unspoken by Constance Phillips – The only thing standing in Nate’s way is Hailey, the woman who left him eight years ago without even saying goodbye. Constance is a TMP 2013 Reader’s Choice Award nominee (All That’s Unspoken).

Out of all of your characters, which is your favorite? Why?

I have to say, at the moment, it’s my heroine in All That’s Unrealized (book three in the series that begins with All That’s Unspoken) Rhonda Gables – who readers meet in All That’s Unspoken – is so complex. She’s driven, and she’s artistic. Her and I can relate on very personal level.

Do you use your OWN experiences?

Every character I write has a piece of me. Their emotions or the way they react to a given situation comes out of the experiences that I have lived through.

Line

Secrets by Jan Scarbrough — How was she going to keep her secret? It had been with her like a living thing for twenty-one years. Jan is an Amazon bestselling author (Love in a Small Town)

Line

Crossroads by Janet Eaves – Desperation has a way of changing everything…. Janet is an Amazon bestselling author (Love in a Small Town, Unforgettable Heroes).

Line
My Brother’s Wedding by Jennifer Anderson – Allison Daughtry is catapulted into a past life when she returns to her childhood home to attend her brother’s wedding. My Brother’s Wedding received a StoryFinds.com cover award.

Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?

Like many authors, I have a few manuscripts sitting on my computer that will not see the light of day. It wasn’t until I connected with another writer on Twitter (also a mom of 3 in the Midwest) and she introduced me to Turquoise Morning Press and their Honey Creek line. With her helpful eyes, I set out and wrote a YA novella, Ice Princess, that they picked up and contracted. In fact, I was at a reader/author event when I met the publisher and she shared how they were going to contact me that week with a contract. As you can imagine, I celebrated a lot that weekend!

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

It wouldn’t be to fly, because I have a fear of heights and x-ray vision is out because some things are best left covered. I think I’d like to be super fast. For some reason, I feel that if I can rush to do all the mundane things, I’d have plenty of time to enjoy the wonderful things!

Line

Double Dog Dare by Jennifer Johnson – When Cheris McDowell wakes up in a hotel room next to the husband she doesn’t remember meeting, she decides the only practical solution is a quiet divorce. Jennifer is an Amazon bestselling author (Unforgettable Heroes).

Who’s your main audience?

People who read. Haha. I’m just kidding. My romances tend to have a lot of humor, but also a lot of depth. I’ve met some of my readers. Most are women, but I’ve even converted a few men—4 that I know of, who never read romance until they read mine. Oh, wait. 5 men. And I can prove it, too, because I have pictures.

Was it easy to pick the title for your book?

Picking titles is probably one of the hardest things I do. Picking names for characters is the second hardest.

Line

Hard Candy Kisses by Maddie James – New Year’s Eve is just around the corner and Patti Jo Baker has tried every trick in the book to land a date for the annual New Year’s Eve Bash at The Lodge. Maddie James is an Amazon bestselling author (Love in a Small Town, Falling for Grace, The Heartbreaker, and more).

What do you do when you are not writing?

I actually work in the book world pretty much 24/7, so if I am not writing, I am probably working on some aspect of someone else’s book. I do cover art, formatting, and all of the administrative tasks of the business. Now, when I’m not doing all of that? I have a few TV shows I like to catch now and again (The Black List, America’s Got Talent, and yes, I’m a Food Network junkie!) I force myself to go outside and do lawn work, but once I’m out there, I love it. Occasionally, I like to take an impromptu trip somewhere.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

I’d like to be able to communicate with animals. I’d love to know what my dog is thinking. And my cats. No, scratch that one. I don’t want to know what they are thinking….

Line

Building a Dream by Magdalena Scott – Chloe McClain is an artist, so she’s used to creating something from nothing. This time, though, the project is bigger than her usual canvas. Magdalena is an Amazon bestselling author (Love in a Small Town).

      Hey Maddie,

I have a gift for knowing what dogs are thinking and doing a great dog voice. Next time I’m with you and Sophie, I shall demonstrate.
