“First Lady Kills President Lovinggood”
December 29, 2018
Thirty years later Hank Lovinggood embarks on a quest to prove his mother’s innocence and punish the killers who took his family from him. Together Hank and lovely physicist Kathryn Sinclair confront an implacable, twisted, merciless enemy who’ll do whatever it takes to hide the truth forever.
“Do you have feelings for me, Hank? Your grandmother thinks you do.”
Hank hopped off the bed and joined her at the window. He put his arms around her from behind and pulled her against him. His lips brushed the side of her neck. “You know I do.”
“No,” Kathryn mused. “I don’t know. How do you feel about me?” She pulled out of Hank’s arms and turned around to face him. “You like making love to me. I know that, but tell me if there’s anything more.”
Hank smiled and stroked her lovely face. Her cheek felt smooth and silky beneath his fingers, softer even than his mother’s green velvet dress that still hung in the room beside his. “Don’t pretend you don’t know that I love you.”
Kathryn melted against him and almost purred with satisfaction. “I love you too.” She laughed softly and gave Hank a little shake. “How can I be in love with a man who doesn’t care about physics?”
“Beats me. How could I be in love with a woman who’s braver than I am?”
Kathryn pulled out of his arms. “Braver than you are?”
“Yeah, I’m scared to death, but you don’t seem worried at all.”
“Appearances can be deceiving.” Kathryn dropped a kiss on the front of his shoulder. “Since we’re both so nervous, I recommend a little physical therapy. It’s guaranteed to relax us.”
Hank grinned and teased her lips with his. “Physical therapy, huh?”
“Nothing’s better for stress.”
Hank closed the curtains, cocooning them in privacy, and took Kathryn by the hand. “Let Counselor Lovinggood help you with your stress, Dr. Sinclair.”
“How kind of you to offer.”
His hand went to the tie on her robe, and she kissed him.
It is my pleasure to interview Elaine Cantrell, author of Blue 52. Welcome to Room With Books, Elaine.
Tell me a little about your book and what inspired you to write it?
I’d be glad to. Blue 52 is a mainstream romance featuring a hero and heroine with the courage to do something no one has ever done before. They intend to change the world even if they die in the attempt.
When you start writing a new novel, do you outline the story or do your characters dictate what will happen?
Oh, I let my characters dictate to me. Those people just won’t behave! I tell them to do one thing, but they refuse and go their own way. I’ve given up arguing with them. It’s better to let them do what they want.
Do you ever have arguments with your characters and who usually wins?
LOL. My characters always win.
What is something about you your readers would be surprised to know?
I wrote my first story when I was five years old. Well, I didn’t really write it. I dictated it to my father who wrote it in pencil on notebook paper. He kept it always, and after his death, my stepmother gave it to me. I promise you it’s one of my dearest possessions. It was a good story too. It must have been. He laughed the whole time he was writing.
If you could write with any other author who would it be any why?
Nora Roberts. If romance had a face, it would be hers. I’d like to discuss writing and promotion with her because obviously she knows about both.
When you were little what did you dream of becoming when you grew up and why?
Sorry, but I can’t remember that far back! I don’t think I knew, though.
When did you decide to write and what prompted you to start?
I’d always wanted to write, but I didn’t try until my son wrote a book. I decided I’d give it a try too. From that point on, I was totally enthralled with writing. I’ve even been known to take my computer with me on vacation. Creating new worlds peopled with fascinating characters gives me a sense of satisfaction that I’d be lost without.
What music inspires your writing?
There isn’t any special type. I find inspiration in many different kinds. My son does old time bluegrass, and some of those songs are good. So are contemporary things I hear on the radio.
What is your favorite breakfast? Bacon and toast.
What is your favorite color? Turquoise
What is your favorite movie? Titanic
What is your dream car? A Jaguar XK, a black convertible
