Synopsis

Never fall in love with a bank robber.

Especially if she’s the one who robbed your bank, took you hostage, and dumped you unconscious at the local convenience store. And definitely not if you are the assistant district attorney of Tupelo, Mississippi.

This is the advice Hank Huckleberry Rivers would have given himself, back when he was a man who vowed to always walk on the right side of the law. The same law that had seemed sacrosanct ever since the day he and his friends watched as two men were murdered right below their tree house.

Falling in love with a dangerous criminal can have life-altering consequences, though. And when the past and the present meet head-on, Hank finds himself in more trouble than he ever bargained for. He must run to save his life, daring to find answers to the questions threatening his safety and his heart, as the killer below the tree house comes after Hank—and his pistol-wielding bank robber.

It’s a simple case of love in the first degree.

Excerpt

Even so, these mystical women in heels who were robbing and donating continued to make headlines, and banks across the states had never been busier. Men were lining up, never taking such an interest in where their money was stashed, all in hopes of catching a glimpse of them.

Posters were made, memes popped up like mushrooms in a wet field online, and a comic strip was dedicated to these women.  Pistollette was bigger than life, her legs spread apart, a pistol in each hand, looking down on the world. That exaggerated smile on her face, those brown blinking eyes.

Her sisters were right beside her, blowing things up, winking and playing the boom box, tap dancing by a door, flipping on counters. Close to their hairlines, a zipper, and a clear thin line that separated their two sides. The good and the bad. The zipper was the key to their true identity. And below them all were men, amplified cartoon hearts floating from their chests, stars in their eyes, and lust in their smiles.

The slogan for these women—not only do they steal your money, they collect interest on your heart.

The entire world knew who they were. Headlines read: Maybe coming to a bank near you.

Propaganda hung in alleys, on fences, above urinals, and below in underground train stations. They were up in pool halls, in dive bars, and on the walls of the swankiest clubs in New York. They had become art. Modern day sophisticate meets old lawless ruggedness. A huge billboard hung in Hollywood, showing the girls appearing out of smoke: Stealing the hearts of the rich guys, giving to the poor ones. Pistollette and her Sirens will take you by storm! They were for the good guys of the world who cared enough to figure it out.

They were elusive and mysterious, and there was a reward for any man who would dare remove any of their masks. The world was sure underneath the masquerades were the most beautiful faces any man had ever seen. No one ever tried. They were too stupefied in their presence. They were truck drivers’ and bikers’ dreams, doctors’ and lawyers’ fantasies.

The hoopla went on and on.

Pistol grinned, trying to hide her smile but failing miserably.

“I know you’re grinning over there.” There were two grins on each side of the line now. “I wish I could’ve been there. I love me some roasted weenies. That mean ole grave keeper, he wasn’t too pleased, though. He had laid some of those real good people to rest. And he didn’t like the idea of anyone disturbing them. Oh no, he sure didn’t. He put out a wanted sign asking all kinds of people about—who done it. As they say, dead men tell no tales, but you go poking around and sometimes those that are left behind, they tell the tales.”

“Big pickins for that old grave keeper, huh?”

“Well, let’s just put it this way. He’s offering more than a dollar and a bunch of pickles.”

“See you in ten,” Pistol said.

“Woo hoo,” they went, and the call went dead.

Author Bio

annrose3 bio pixBorn and raised in New Orleans, Annie has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty- one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California).

Her writing career began one sleepless night when she imagined a gorgeous woman and a man with maniacal hair floating above her like lightening bugs falling from the sky. Curious about them, their story, and why they were floating around in her head, she sat down and penned (typed) her first novel, Marigny Street. A dream come true for her, she hasn’t stopped writing since. She loves a damn good love story, always has, no matter what the genre. She is particularly moved by imperfect love that in its own unique way is perfect, the notion of love at first sight, soul mates, and things that are generally out of the norm.

When she’s not writing she enjoys dabbling in photography and finding new, inspirational music to add to her collection. Deciding on a whim to hitch up those same wagons, Annie currently resides in Texas (where everything is bigger) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Chance Coalson loves women. And they love him. Young or old, no woman is immune to his charm.
Except one.
Georgia Haines is the only female volunteer firefighter in Grafton. She’s had a crush on Chance Coalson since he offered her his handkerchief at her momma’s funeral. But she’s smart enough to know that it takes a special woman to tame a charmer like Chance, and there’s nothing particularly special about her.
When fire breaks out at the Coalson’s construction business and Chance is trapped inside, Georgia braves the flames to save him, only to discover her “crush” has morphed into love. And she’s helpless to hide her desire.
Chance awakens to find an angel breathing life into his lungs with a kiss. The woman he wanted more than any other was the one who paid the “Casanova of the County” no mind.
So how does a man with a bad reputation convince a shy firefighter that he’s worth taking a chance on love?
By fighting fire with fire…..
 photo Synopsis4_zps7498b298.jpg

Georgia came alive. “No! Don’t touch me!” She twisted away from him and flew around the tree. Peeking at him from around the fat branch, she said accusingly, “What’s the matter, Chance? Am I the only woman to break it off first?”

“Georgia! What the hell are you talking about?” Chance had no idea what had changed since last night. “I love you.”

“You say that now, but I can’t believe it. If I let you, you will trample across my heart just like my father did to my mother. I’m not going to let you get that far.”

Chance took in her wide-eyed face and the panic in her voice. Missy Dee had filled him in on her parent’s relationship, and Georgia’s feelings on the matter, but he hadn’t really listened. And now he didn’t know what to do. How do you fight damn ghosts?

“Georgia, honey, you’re overreacting. What happened to your parents was unfortunate, but it doesn’t apply to us. We love each other.” Chance tried to placate her.

“My mother told me how my father would say that he loved her right before he left to be with one of his other women. You can’t trust a man. You can’t give him your heart,” she cried out.

“We are not your parents! We have the choices here,” he roared as he advanced on her. “We chose to make love last night. Me and you. And there were no goddamn ghost lurking around trying to screw it up.”

He stopped for a moment trying to find a way to reason with her. “What we felt last night was not sex, Georgia. We made love. Love manifested in the physical sense. It was precious, sweetheart. You can’t believe I would feel that way with any other woman, now that I’ve had you.”

Dark Angel, A Summer Spirit Novella

by Samantha Jacobey

Book 2 in the Summer Spirit Series

Genre: Paranormal Romance

Release Date: June 23rd

 photo Dark Angel Cover Final_zps49joyrjy.jpg

 photo Synopsis2_zpsf1848aa2.jpg

Dark Angel – A Summer Spirit Novella… Can your Guardian Angel simply walk away?

Charlie and his girlfriend met last summer, after his awakening from a near death experience. Their love grew while his body healed, and after a few short months, he had come to believe she was the girl of his dreams. But Donna has a secret; one she had never intended to share with the love of her life.

While Charlie’s physical being had lain in a hospital, his spirit had traveled to another dimension – her world – where the forces of light and dark collide. When he had returned to the living side of consciousness, Clarisse stole Donna’s body, claiming it and giving herself a second chance at life and love. Of course, people who die are meant to stay dead, and there will be rough times ahead as Keeper, head of the angels, decides how to put things back in order…

Charlie stared down at their plates, guilt washing over him; “Damn.” He could tell she had put a great deal of effort into the meal, and he had blown it. “So much for overtime,” he muttered, turning to follow her to their bedroom. “Honey, I’m sorry,” he called more loudly.

Stepping into the room, he noted her hunched frame on the foot of the bed. Her face in her hands, her shoulders shook, signaling her silent sobs. Taking a knee before her, he sat back on his haunches while his fingers gently wound around her warm flesh, pulling on her arms to uncover her delicate beauty, “Hey.”

Allowing him to expose her tears, her face looked distorted, causing him to inhale sharply. “Don’t look at me Charlie,” she implored.

“Why?” he breathed the question. “Seriously, baby. What’s happening to you?”

Flicking her moist tongue over her lips, she whined, “You’ll call me crazy if I tell you. Just like you did Grandma Parker.”

“No, I won’t,” he pushed himself up onto his knees, his arms sliding around her waist, “Baby, I love you so much. We’re survivors, remember?” he alluded to their private joke. “There’s nothing you can’t tell me, an’ I promise; I would never call you crazy.”

She stared into his deep brown eyes, feeling as if they would swallow her whole at any moment. “My name isn’t Donna,” she stated flatly, “My name is Clarisse.”

Charlie’s lungs clamped down tight within his chest, as if she had knocked the wind out of him with a single punch. “Clarisse,” he coughed, squinting as he tried to make the connection. Finally, unable to do so, he stroked her long straight locks, “Honey, I’m not following.”

“That’s why she doesn’t know me,” she pulled herself up straight, “Because… I’m not me. And Grandma Parker can see it somehow.”

“I see,” he sank back down, heels to rear, “And how long has this feeling that you’re someone else been going on?”

“I told you!” she screamed, leaping to her feet, “Now you think I’m bat shit psycho!” she whirled around, moving to the window to peer outside, searching the darkness for some unseen enemy.

Watching her, he pushed himself up, standing slowly, “I never said that. I don’t understand. That’s all.”

“Of course not, you’re still you,” she quipped.

Anyone who knows me could tell you, I am a friendly kind of person, never met a stranger and take up conversations any where at any time. I work hard, and my mind never seems to shut down, as I wake up often in the middle of the night with ideas pouring out and demanding to be dealt with. Of course that means much of my books were written in the middle of the night.

I grew up and still live in the great state of Texas where everything is bigger, where we have warm weather and a central location. I love my state, my town, and my family, which includes my four sons, my significant other, and many friends as well.

I have thoroughly enjoyed writing the books that are currently available and hope you will enjoy reading them just as much. And of course, there will be many more stories to come.

He placed a hand behind her right knee, prompting her to raise it, allowing him to glide the sponge over the length of her leg and down her foot. Then he repeated the process with the other leg, and Carly couldn’t help the squirm of delight when she suddenly felt the sponge hit the apex of her thighs. And when she felt his fingers running slowly through the folds of her sex a soft gasp parted her lips. The lengthy moan that followed was inevitable.

Gabe let his fingers linger as he enjoyed the sight of her slightly writhing soap-covered body and the expression of desire and longing on her lovely face. He smiled as he watched her, feeling the need to adjust his kneeling position as his manhood took notice and his pants became uncomfortably tight. Turning her on hadn’t been his intention, but this little exercise had suddenly grown a lot more fun and interesting. Slowly, he inserted one long finger into her creamy depths and began a rhythmic circular motion. He felt her spasm around his finger almost immediately, and she called out, gripping his arm with one hand and the side of the tub with the other when she climaxed.

For Carly, it was over all too soon, but she couldn’t help it. She had been so worked up from the sensual feel of his hands all over her body and the way he looked at her, the things he had said in her mind. There was no way she could have contained the small fire that had been building inside her for one more minute.

As she sat panting softly in the water he wrung the sponge out over her torso and her arms, slowly rinsing the soap off her skin. When he was done, he leaned in close and kissed her lips, letting his tongue play over them in a sweet tease before delving in and tasting her. Then he stood up and turned toward the vanity for a towel. He dried off his arms and hands and placed the towel on a stool within her reach. Then he picked up his shirt and pulled it over his head as she watched him.

“You’re leaving?” she asked telepathically when he moved toward the door.

Gabe stopped and turned back around to face her. He was wearing a cocky satisfied smile on his face, and Carly recognized that he felt very pleased with himself.

“I’ll see you in the woods underneath the Moon,” he thought at her with a sexy smile on his lips. “Don’t keep me waiting. I am anxious to show you off.”

He left the bathroom then, and a few seconds later Carly heard the door to the bedroom close and he was gone. She let out a long breath and then smiled as she looked around the bathroom and thought of him. She couldn’t believe he had done this for her. She wasn’t entirely certain what his motives had been, but it was the sweetest, most thoughtful gesture, and she loved him for it.

She spent a few minutes just lounging in the tub and feeling more relaxed than she had in weeks. Then she rinsed off all the lingering soap and the rose petals and carefully grabbed the towel as she stood up to exit the bath.

She stood at the vanity as she dried off and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Gabe had called her beautiful just a little while ago. He said he was proud and anxious to show her off to the pack. And for some reason that she didn’t fully understand, those words had gone a long way to easing the crazy fear and anxiety she had been feeling about tonight. To know that he was proud of her and that he couldn’t wait for the entire Moon Hunter community to meet her. And earlier, Henry had said that the people felt she was trying to make an effort to embrace their culture and fit in. He said she had earned their respect by agreeing to this public ceremony.

She took a deep breath as she thought about it all. She could do this. She would do this, for Gabe. But also for the packs. If this is what it took for the Moon Hunter community to accept her as one of their own … she could do this, easy.

Well. Maybe not so easy. But she would get through it.

She left the bathroom and ventured over to the dressing table in the corner of the bedroom and opened up the small overnight bag she had carried her things here in. Then she pulled out a bottle of her favorite lotion and began to moisturize her whole body. If she was going to go parading around her new pack in her birthday suit, she wanted that suit to look flawless.

She spent several minutes distressing over whether or not she should trim the hair on a certain area of her anatomy. Did female werewolves do that kind of thing? Were male werewolves into that or did they prefer a more natural look? Gabe had never said one way or the other, and he had never seemed to mind the action she had going on down there.

This isn’t about sex for them, Carly!

She rolled her eyes and looked up at the ceiling for a second. This wasn’t about sex. She had to remember that. And it struck her as sort of interesting as she thought about it. For humans, being naked always had a sexual connotation to it in nearly every circumstance, but especially when it was done in public. But for Moon Hunters, it was different. Getting naked in a communal setting for them was always solely about their spiritual connection to the Moon, and nothing else. It was a distinction that she needed to remember and take to heart.

“Well, if it isn’t the Angel of Mercy. Have you come to administer to the weak and injured? I’m afraid you’re a little too late. Everyone’s been patched up. Of course you can always kiss the boo-boos, can’t you?” Sam drawled as he shifted position on the railing.

Angel felt a blush heat her cheeks at his words and started to turn away. This was obviously a mistake. She was getting nowhere with him. She saw him wince as he moved and she turned back. “Were you really hurt?”

“Yeah, I’m in a lot of pain. Do you think you can help me?” he drawled as he passed his hand across his brow.

Angel immediately became solicitous. “Where are you hurt?” She ran up the front porch steps. She looked him over, searching for injury.

“Here.” Sam smiled and pointed to his groin. She could see his erection tenting his jeans. “Still want to help?”

Angel stiffened in outrage. “You bast…”

“Tsk, tsk, tsk. Careful there, Angel baby, you wouldn’t want to tarnish that halo, would you?” He hefted himself off the railing and came to stand next to her.

Experience the power of love in season.

The Prophecy (Spring):

Escaping from her mother, Gaia, Creator of All, was only the beginning for Aria Spring. Staying hidden will require protection from the one man she doesn’t trust to save anyone but himself. Responsible for breathing new life into the dormant world, Aria is determined to save it, and her elementals sisters from her mother’s vow of destruction.

Disbelieving the tall tales his father and grandfather told when he was a child, Eiden refuses to acknowledge his family’s legacy as Protector of the Spring. The draw to Aria, however, is too great for him to resist, and he finds himself unable to stay away from her. When he sees her powers in action with his own eyes, he can no longer deny the fierce need to protect her – even if it costs him his life.

Bayou Bleue (Summer):

Été Munson is the fiery daughter of Gaia, the Creator of All, and the reason why the season of summer exists. But when Gaia decides the Earth is too ominous to keep, her plan sends Été into hiding in the mystical town of Bayou Bleue, Louisiana.

Enter Bear Glenn. A mysterious voyager who has come from Scotland to find Été before Gaia does. As she brings Bear into the Heart of the Swamp, a land filled with Bayou Trolls, Silent People, and the legendary Rougarou, their Fate will be tested, along with their will to survive.

Connected Souls (Fall):

Autumn Munson lives a simple life. As simple as a goddess in hiding can, that is. One of the four Elemental daughters of Gaia, Mother of All, she’s the very embodiment of the fall season. But when Mommy Dearest gets the crazy idea that the Earth must go, Autumn and her sisters scatter into hiding in a last ditch effort to save the world.

William Varian is an ancient soul. An immortal shifter who has been watching over Autumn for longer than she realizes. He holds the secrets to a past that she’s long forgotten – one where they meant everything to each other. But as he fights to keep Autumn safe, will they allow Gaia to use their centuries-old connection to destroy them, or will it prove to be a bond that not even the Mother of All can break?

Cold Awakenings (Winter):

Wynter Munson doesn’t belong in Los Angeles, but what better place to hide a Winter goddess. All that sun won’t melt her frozen heart, though, after the betrayal and loss of her cheating husband.

It’s her darkness that Morpheus is drawn to. He finds the girl of his dreams inside hers. But when the Mother of All threatens Wynter’s son, he must convince her that love not only destroys lives. It can save them too.

Annie Rose Welch:

clip_image012

Born and raised in New Orleans, Annie Rose Welch has a habit of shortening her words and telling long stories. She speaks with a southern flair and cooks with it too. At the tender age of twenty-one, she hitched up her wagons (took her first plane ride) and moved out west to the big shake (California). She currently (still) resides in the big shake (although her southern roots are calling her home) with her husband, daughter, and their two peculiar dogs, Boudreaux and Tabasco (who, call her crazy, bark with an accent).

Lashell Collins:

clip_image014

Lashell Collins is an American author of romantic suspense, paranormal and contemporary romance. She spent the last twenty years of her life working in veterinary clinics and garden centers in her home state of Ohio, and is now living her dream of writing full-time. She loves a good love story, whether she’s watching it on TV, reading it, or writing it. In food terms, she likes to think of her own stories as sweet and spicy – sweet romance with spicy sex scenes! Lashell walks to the beat of her own drum, but that’s okay ’cause she’s got a pretty good sense of rhythm. Basically, she’s a geeky, quirky, laid-back, rocker-loving kinda girl who’s married to a retired cop, motorcycle-riding, bad-boy alpha all her own, and she likes to write about sexy police officers, werewolves and rockstars – or some inventive combination of the three! When she’s not busy tapping away on her laptop and living vicariously through her characters, she can usually be found watching Grimm, rocking out to Slash, stuffing her face full of Chinese food, or riding on the back of her husband’s Harley-Davidson. Give her a shout, she loves to hear from readers!

Dina Haynes:

clip_image016

Dina Haynes is the pseudonym for an author who has always called the San Francisco Bay Area home, though she currently resides in Southern California. Raised in a single-parent family household with her mother and sister, she aptly refers to it as “the house of estrogen.” And, not to be forgotten, the one male energy that stood out in her upbringing was a pet Pomeranian-mix named Theodore. He is no longer with us, but his spirit lives on in her heart and on the pages. And every dog she harasses on the street.

The final journey of the Saving Angels series has come to an end. All roads have led you to….

“What’s the address?” she asks.

“Eleven Sparrow Way.”

She closes her eyes for a moment. “I like that. Our journey has flown us here, flown us home….”

Gabriel Roberts found his happily ever after at The Crossroads of his life. He found his brother, Michael, his history in the Legion, and the love of his life, his Evangeline. He has finally arrived at the place he always yearned for—home.

But time stops for no one; not even an angel.

For years Gabriel has guarded what is most precious to him, Evangeline and their transcendent love story. When the opportunity presents itself in an unexpected way, Gabriel decides to tell his story, and in doing so, answers the riddle of his heart: If life is the journey of years, perhaps love is the journey of a lifetime?

My eyes savor every inch of her bare flesh. The gentle sway of her body, the way her waist melts into her rolling, swinging hips. Her body is soft, but firm. Her eyes are full of longing and bright fire. Her stare melts me, like a slow burn. My will drips, drips, drips as she moves into me.

“I can’t get you close enough, fast enough,” I breathe. I want to drink her, absorb her, until every pore in my body is overflowing with her. Her tongue tastes like warm, sweet honey. I can never have enough of her this way. Of this I am infinitely positive.

Her head tilts backward. Her lips curl in an upward smile of pleasure. Her hair falls around her back, uncovering her breasts. The sweet smell from her bare skin enraptures me. Her hands rush through my hair. She traces the lines of my face; her fingertips seem to float across my skin. “Memorizing you,” she breathes out as her hands make their way to my body, undressing me.

I move into her, trembling, dripping with heat. My fingers pulsate and pull against her soft skin and her knees buckle.

“When you touch me, you feel like thunder pounding against my skin,” she whispers.

I’m careful now—the want needs to grow until it can no longer be controlled. Like a beast being released after years of being caged.

The tension builds, causing my soul to stir.

Annie Rose Welch’s List of Dream Places to Write:

I was thrilled when I was asked to come up with a list of places I like go when I want to get away from everything. But to me that translated into: the places I would love to go, if I could go anywhere, to write. (A writer’s brain is a lovely, different place—and each one translates things differently.) Writing is what I run to when reality takes hold and just won’t let go. It’s wonderful to be whisked away by something that lives in a secret place inside of you.

It would be wonderful to recharge in these places when reality returns, which it always and eventually does.

New Orleans (or some place in), Louisiana

New Orleans is my home and it is unlike any other place—it has music, food, culture, and humid heat. All of the things I find particularly inspiring. The same goes for the bayous and historic plantations. Any of these places would do. They speak to me. And even though I lose myself when I’m in the midst of writing, coming back to a shotgun house in the French Quarter, or a room in one of those antebellum plantations, would be a dream come true.

Ireland

If you’ve read my books you know that Ireland holds a special place in my heart. I love the culture and the language and the rich history. So, that being said, it is not difficult for me to imagine myself in some little secluded thatched roof cottage, typing away with a warm cup of tea sitting to my left. The steam and aroma of a finely brewed cup only helping to transport me to the hidden vicinities where the untold stories are waiting to be discovered.

Tennessee (Gatlinburg or Nashville)

I’ve always had a passion for Tennessee. And it only gets stronger the older I get. I often dream of a large farm, one with a great expanse of green pastures, beautiful trees, a rose garden, a vegetable garden teaming with life, varied livestock, all doing their unique thing, and a small log cabin sitting amongst it all. My daughter and I discuss this dream quite a bit. We add animals, change the view from the window, sometimes it’s morning, sometimes we are late into the night with only the soft glow of candles for light. Even though this is only a dream, I love the view from the little window I imagine is in front of my desk, my writer’s tools at my disposal. I’m hoping one day we dream it into life. Until then… That’s the beautiful thing about imaginations—they don’t cost a thing.

A Train to Wherever

Even before the start of Amtrak’s Residency Program, I’ve always thought the idea of writing while on a locomotive bound to somewhere was very…. romantic. I’ve taken a journey on a train before, and let me tell you, there is something about it that brings you back to a simpler time. The view is constantly changing from that small window, and everything seems new and bold and the possibilities are endless. The well of inspiration is limitless, just as the tracks seem to be when you are burning through the miles spread out before you.

Waveland or Biloxi, Mississippi

When I was a little girl, this is where we would vacation in the summer. (I even lived there for a time.) We would spend what seemed like the entire summer on the beach. We would eat cold watermelon, go fishing, and when night fell upon us, we would sit around a raging bonfire, roasting marshmallows and listening to music. I often think of those times, and they inspire me. After a particularly draining scene, this would be just the place to relax in a swinging hammock, before getting back to the waiting story.
