ROMANCE IS IN THE AIR SHOWCASING AUTHOR LUCY McCONNELL

Her Beast of a Billionaire Boss by Lucy McConnell

When Bella Creer’s father has a heart attack and is unable to finish his contract for Adam Moreau, a ruthless lawyer based in Seattle, she steps in to take his place and save The Cove Phase II.

Adam, a billionaire who lives in a secluded castle on a cliff, is gruff, demanding, brilliant, and injured. An acid attack left its mark on Adam’s face but it’s his heart wounds that Bella sees clearly.

As she takes on the management of a multi-billion-dollar project, Bella’s confidence in herself strengthens and her attraction to Adam grows. But Adam didn’t become the best lawyer in the state by making friends and the wolves circle, ready to attack him at his weakest. Bella will have to be stronger than she’s ever been just to survive. And, before it’s too late, she’ll need to realize that her true power lies in her ability to love beyond measure.

This clean romance will sweep you away to a castle where maids do your laundry, a cook makes lobster for dinner, and there’s a beauty parlor in the basement.

Welcome to The Cove

With heavy iron gates, two security stations, and a groundskeeper’s cottage, The Cove has everything a billionaire could ask for in a home. Dubbed Billionaire Bachelor Cove because of the resident’s single status and income portfolios, The Cove is the perfect place to hide away from the world. But, as the residents soon find out, they can’t hide from love.

“I loved this story and the authors style of writing. The story flowed easily and held my attention. Good , clean with no sex or swear words. Would recommend to all ages.”

“Brilliantly scripted and a fun read! The characters are engaging and strong. They draw you in and have deep chemistry in this sweet and clean read. I didn’t want this story to end though I was itching to see how the nicely crafted story concluded.

I especially love that the story seemed to occur over a long time span and conversations/intetactions were not superficial.

Am glad it’s part of a series and hopefully we’ll encounter the characters again.”

“I really enjoyed the characters, the subtle plot twists, and the growth of the main characters’ relationship. It was a fun read and hard to put down.”

Uncle Philip broke the silence and Adam’s concentration. “You remind me so much of your father.”

Adam slapped the folder shut. He had enough information to win the case. “I hope you mean that as a compliment, because it’s been said both ways many times.”

The lines around Philip’s eyes had softened. “Same noble brow. Same wavy blond hair. Though I think you’re an inch taller than him.”

“The old man just rolled over in his grave.” His father never gave him an inch in life; it was unlikely he’d give him one in death.

“I offered to take you, you know. After Alicia passed.” Philip ran his thumb over the swollen knuckle on his ring finger. “Your father had other ideas.”

Adam stared out the window as the early days of boarding school, the loneliness, and the emptiness of a child still mourning his mother washed over him like a soft Seattle drizzle. He took in the man across from him. A simple man with a simple life—a life that would have made Adam soft. “Thank goodness for that,” he muttered. At least his father had saved him from a small and unimportant life.

Uncle Philip sighed. “You have more in common with him than your looks.”

This time Adam understood that the words weren’t a compliment, though they were spoken with honesty. The realization unexpectedly stabbed, like a thorn in his flesh. No matter. He would shortly prove that being fierce was better than being … whatever it was Uncle Philip wished him to be. He lifted the folder. “This should only take a moment, and you’ll be on your way.”

The car stopped in front of King County Courthouse. The aged gray building was shaped like a letter H, with two columns of justice connected by a tunnel of office space. There were decorations on the exterior to recommend it as an architectural beauty.

Impatient, Adam threw open the door before his driver had a chance to open it for him and marched towards the entry. He was single-minded in his movements and didn’t notice the woman in the yellow dress until their hands touched on the door.

“Oh!” she exclaimed, a smile blossoming on her face.

Feeling a jolt up his arm, Adam gave her his full attention. Her brown hair was pulled back in a style reminiscent of the 1940s with a few thick, loose curls bouncing to her chin and framing her enchanting, heart-shaped face. She had large, doe-like brown eyes that dropped demurely as his cheeks colored.

He never blushed. The sensation was enough to knock him off his course. She smelled of lilacs and fresh rain.

“I’m so sorry. You go first,” she said. Her voice was strong and yet a caress that drew him near. He had the strangest feeling that he’d like to slay a dragon.

He thrust the door open and motioned for her to enter. “I insist.”

“Thank you.” Her cheeks dusted pink, and for the first time in his life, Adam was quite out of his mind over a woman. He couldn’t remember where he was going or why it was important.

“You look lovely,” he said, not even sure the words made it out of his mouth. He didn’t throw out compliments to strangers. Heck, he didn’t compliment anyone.

Her smile deepened. “Thank you. I’m meeting my fiancé upstairs. We’re getting married today.” She nodded once, her smile lighting up the entire lobby and cracking through the plaster he’d applied to his heart long ago, and then she was off to the elevators and he was left feeling as though he’d missed the opportunity of a lifetime.

12 DAYS OF CLEAN ROMANCE FEATURING AUTHOR LUCY MCCONNELL

ABOUT THE BOOK

Marrying Kiss Kringle: Frost

Frost buried her face in her hands, feeling all the pressure to save Christmas. Neither Stella nor Robyn had the potential for love yet. They were starting from scratch. But she had more than potential; she had an invitation. It was up to her to find Tannon; get him to profess his love to her; and save her family, the North Pole, and Christmas for children all over the world.

Oh, Tannon, I hope you’re ready to love me.

Frost Kringle broke one of the North Pole’s rules the day she replied to a letter from Tannon Cebu; but, her Kringle-enhanced empathy wouldn’t allow her to walk away from the anguish in his words. What began as a disobedient impulse grew into friendship and eventually love. If her secret romance is revealed, she’ll be banished from her home and family.

When the Kringles discover Christmas Magic is dangerously off balance, Frost musters up the courage to meet Tannon in person with the hope that they can marry and save Christmas. While she’s away from her precious Letters Room, her secret is blown right open and she’s exiled. In order to make it home for Christmas, Frost has to bring Christmas cheer to those who need it most.

Tannon, is tired of the corporate grind and wants out. He’s decided to sell his paper mill and retire to a quiet corner where he can raise his son in peace. His announcement, right before the holidays, creates an uproar as employees wonder if they’ll have a job in the New Year. No one in town feels like celebrating and they have little hope of a happy holiday.
If Frost can get Tannon, and the town of Elderberry, to believe in Christmas once again, she’ll make it home and save Santa’s workshop from turning into a block of ice and ruining Christmas for children all over the world. Trouble arises when Tannon’s interest turn to Frost more than to Christmas. She walks a tinsel-fine line between falling for him and failing in her Christmas quest.

With her whole world out of balance, Frost must look deep inside herself to bring about a Christmas miracle–with a little help from her jolly family.

T

Frost Kringle rubbed her arms. “It’s not my year. I’m the youngest. You two should find your husbands first,” she told her older, single sisters.

Robyn huffed. “Apparently, Christmas Magic doesn’t give a partridge in a pear tree about birth order. And I don’t, either. Come with us—just to get used to being south-er.”

Frost hesitated, searching for a polite way to tell them to jump out of a flying sleigh.

Stella took her hesitation as a silent agreement and forged on. “Perfect. Where should we go? I was thinking of heading back to Alaska.”

“No thanks.” Robyn popped another chocolate. “We need someplace new.”

Frost puzzled the question of where they should go. She puzzled it high and she puzzled it low. And while she puzzled, a strange thought came to be. A thought she thought just might be the key. She tried to hold it in, did her best to be good. But there was a part of Frost Kringle that never quite could. “Oregon,” Frost whispered, staring off into space. “Elderberry, Oregon. That’s the place.”

Both her sisters stared at her. “Why there?” asked Stella.

Frost cleared her throat, breaking through the fog that had clouded her mind while at the same time giving herself clarity. She mentally stumbled to come up with an excuse that wouldn’t reveal her biggest and best-kept secret. “It’s got a large populate of single men. There’s a, um, paper company and mill and they make beautiful stationary.” Like cream envelopes with gold trim that bring the most wonderful letters.

Stella shrugged. “As long as it’s got men, I’m game.”

Robyn poked Stella in the arm. “That’s your problem—you need to be pickier.”

“Do you have a better idea?”

Frost held her breath. She’d dreamed and dreamed of going to Elderberry, of meeting Tannon, of finally seeing the man whose words had captured her heart. If she was a romantic, it was because each mail delivery included a little bit of romance just for her.

“No,” admitted Robyn.

“Okay, then.” Stella slapped her hand on the table. “Meeting adjourned. We’re going to Elderberry the day after tomorrow. Have your bags packed.”

Frost threaded her fingers together under the table, holding her hands tight, tight, tight in an effort to hold in her excitement as her sisters left the room. She was going to meet Tannon.

“I’m going to meet Tannon,” she said out loud. With a squeal, she threw her hands in the air.

This trip may be the best thing that ever happened to her, or it may be the ending of a long and special friendship. Either way, the time had come to meet her crush face-to-face.

I have loved all of Lucy McConnell’s books, and this one definitely lived up to my expectations.

I love the other books in this series and this one did not disappoint. It was an enjoyable story that kept me reading late into the night. I can’t wait for next installment!

I found Marrying Miss Kringle to be a fun and lovely read. It is light in nature with a feeling of watching one of those Lifetime Christmas movies, but only in book form.

Christmas Magic is changing and the Kringle Family scrambles to keep up in this fun and entertaining, sweet Christmas romance from Author Lucy McConnell.

A normal electrical substation takes two years to build; but, Lux has 365 days to install one at the North Pole or Christmas Magic will overload the factory and send them back to the Dark Ages.

Praise for the book:

“For getting me in the mood for Christmas, and the romantic aspect of this holiday even before Thanksgiving, I’m happy to give Ms. McConnell the 5 STARS I’ve given her book.”

“Marrying Miss Kringle: Lux is a funny, tender, magical adventure into the sparkles of Christmas Magic and the sparks of human love.”

Lux’s cheeks dusted pink. With her red hair and fair skin, she should have flushed bright red, but only this sprinkling of pink appeared, like she’d been dusted with pink powdered sugar. Why did this woman bring to mind sweet things like powdered sugar and chocolate and kisses at sunset? He gave his head a mighty shake.

“You fell in the water.”

“I know.” At least, he thought he knew. Everything had happened so fast. He’d fallen asleep and woken up when the ice cracked. He plopped his feet to the floor only to have them land in several inches of water. His stove had tipped over and the hot metal had melted clear through the ice. There must have been a crack in the ice nearby.

“We pulled you out.”

“We?” Quik adjusted the blankets over his arms. He could only imagine Lux and Ginger and Frost tearing his clothes off.

Lux made to adjust her glasses, but they weren’t there. She looked around like they’d fallen off and she didn’t know how.

So he wasn’t the only one thrown off by all this. Quik’s eyes traveled lower to find her bare shoulders and her skintight tank top. He jerked his eyes back up to her face, hoping she hadn’t caught his wandering eye.

“Me and Dunder.” She chewed her lip. “My reindeer.”

“Of course.” The situation was going up in weirdness. Having used up all his ability to care about propriety, Quik leaned back against the seat. He was in the bottom of a fancy velvet-lined sled. Yep. Weird. His eyes dropped shut. “You cut my pants?” he asked.

“I’ll get you new ones,” offered Lux. “Did you cut my shirt too?”

“No!” She was offended. That was kind of cute.

“Too bad. I needed a new shirt.” He half smiled.

Snippet from Christmas Makeover

“Drew?” Chelsea’s breath hitched. As in my dream man who I’ve loved since before Jessica started waxing my unibrow at sleepovers?

Drew ended the call, put his phone in his suit pocket, and spun to face her. “Chels?”

Chelsea didn’t know if she was in a daydream or real life. The warm look in Drew’s eyes and excitement in his voice sent quivers throughout her body. It wasn’t a dream because he didn’t lift her off the ground and kiss her passionately, but the lingering hug he gave her was worth writing lengthy journal entries about.

“What are you doing in town?” Chelsea asked.

“What are you doing shopping?” Drew asked at the same time.

They both laughed awkwardly. Kiera arched an eyebrow and turned back to her office. “See you two later.”

“Bye,” they both said then stared at each other again.

Chelsea broke the moment, turning and walking toward the center of the store. Drew fell into step beside her. She nudged his bicep with her shoulder, he was one of the few men who made her feel short. “I haven’t seen you in six years and all you can ask is what am I doing shopping?”

Drew chuckled and she just had to look again. His throaty chuckle was still the same, maybe a little deeper. His brown sugar eyes and wavy dark hair hadn’t changed much, but his face had matured, if possible he was even more handsome than her fantasies about him, and oh, those lips, those perfectly sculpted lips. She withheld a sigh. If only he spent half as much thought on her as she did on him. Men never think that hard about their buddies and since Chelsea could outscore Drew on the court, the only time he probably spent thinking about her was when he strategized ways to get around her defense.

Drew turned to her, taking one of her hands in his. “You look great, Chels.”

A jolt of warmth raced through her body. She inhaled quickly and his spicy cologne messed with her brain waves. She leaned toward him before her good sense caught up with her hormones. It was a wonder that he didn’t seem at all affected by the connection because it was strong enough to wipe out a power grid. Wait, this was Drew. Of course he wasn’t affected by the connection, he thought of her as a little sister. No, that wasn’t quite right. He’d have to admit both of her chromosomes were X to think of her as a sister.

Drew makes an unexpected visit home to Echo Ridge and their friendship picks up where they left off as they scheme to make a teenaged boy’s Christmas dreams come true. When Chelsea realizes she’s fallen for her best friend, she wonders if there is any hope of a relationship with Drew or if she’s stuck in buddy-status for life.

Soda Fountain Christmas by Connie E. Sokol Amazon bestselling author

She is not focused on Tayton Wells, the tall, dark, and genius marketing guru from downtown New York, hired to make it happen. He is as doubtful that her nostalgic connect-the-town ideas will succeed as she is about his numbers-first plan. However, it’s not just their different approaches that cause sparks to fly. But will the tough decisions they face drive them back to their separate worlds, or will they lead to the beginning of love?

Christmas Makeover by Heather Tullis Amazon bestselling author

Jonah Owens thought moving to Echo Ridge to open his art gallery would solve all of his problems. The need to sell his grandma’s house adds an unexpected complication. It would be easier if his neighbor didn’t have all those farm animals.

Kaya Feidler’s family has owned their land for nearly a hundred years–long before the neighbors were there. There’s no way she’s giving up the animal therapy business she’s been struggling to make profitable. She gets a temp job helping Jonah in the gallery. Spending time together is a recipe for romance, but can they overcome their own hangups to be more than friends?

Hope for Christmas by Rachelle J. Christensen Amazon bestselling & award-winning author

Anika Fletcher hates Christmas–its promises of good tidings and hope for the future are as tinseled as the ornaments on Kenworth’s Hope Tree. Despite her feelings, Anika wants to maintain her daughter’s faith in the magic of the season and gladly accepts a second job working with the handsome Carlos Rodriguez to restore Kenworth’s old fashioned soda fountain. Carlos is no stranger to hard times and slowly shares his life of light and joy with Anika as they work together. Just as her fragile soul begins to feel hope again, an ill-timed act of charity changes everything. Anika isn’t sure who she can trust or if hope is worth nurturing–especially at Christmas when it’s easy to enjoy a kiss and believe love can last longer than the season.

from A Touch of Love

“Do you ever write down what you’re thinking?” Luke asked.

Annie’s eyebrows arched. He loved the way she did that.

“Would you write for me? What you’re thinking?”

She shrugged her shapely shoulders and studied him for a few seconds before pulling out a notepad. She wrote for a few seconds then handed it to him.

I’m thinking that this cowboy is a nice guy who’s uncomfortable with my silence.

“I guess you got me there. I don’t really talk too much, usually just swear at the cattle. So I’m not a nice guy at all.”

She took the pad back, wrote, and handed it to him again.

You’re definitely a nice guy. I knew that when you bought the thoughtful gift for your sister. Why do you want to take me to dinner? Feeling bad for the new girl in town?

He grinned. “Nope. Feeling intrigued by the new girl in town and wanting to get to know her better.” He handed the pad back to her.

You don’t have the time to get to know me better, it would take hours for me to get anything out with my stutter.

He laughed. “Sweetheart, I’ve got the time and the desire to get to know you better. I really do love the sound of your voice, but if you’re more comfortable we could communicate like this.”

Her grin widened. How about we give it a few days? I don’t go to dinner with men I don’t know.

“How about I come back tomorrow and see you so you don’t have to go to dinner with a man you don’t know?” He paused. “Dang. Tomorrow we’re checking the range cows. Friday?”

She looked dubious.

“I’d like an appointment Friday at five for…” He looked over the list of options. “A foot zone. If you’re available, I’d like to take you to dinner after.”

She wrote quickly. Reading your feet will definitely help me get to know you. Are you sure you’re ready for that kind of disclosure?

A surprised laugh escaped him. “You can tell stuff about me from rubbing my feet?”

She pointed at the word reading.

“Reading my feet?”

She nodded, looking very smug.

“Okay. I have nothing to hide. You’re sure we can’t go to dinner tonight?”

She waved at him.

Luke inclined his head. Annie was a challenge. He liked her more each minute.

Book Review - Copy

It is my pleasure to review Summer in Snow Valley and offer my review. I was provided a copy of this anthology in exchange for an honest review.

Together as an anthology, this is a selection of six of the sweetest novellas I’ve had the pleasure to read in a very long time and had I realized what a treat it would be, I would have made sure these six authors were on the top of my TBR stack with every book they’ve written.

What a breath of fresh air to find that there is still romance and sweetness to be found. Snow Valley sounds like the wonderful small town I first remember from growing up, where the neighbors all knew each other, and always seemed to be meddling in the lives of their children and the myriad of other characters that exist in these wonderful towns.

Snow Valley offers a place where brokenness can be mended, where differences are ignored, and love abounds. The authors of the Snow Valley novellas have reached into the heart of every person and found their need for love and acceptance and allowed them to find that love and acceptance within themselves and the community at large. They offer a great look in to love that builds from adversity and the challenges of learning to love ourselves as well as each other.

It was an absolute pleasure to read Summer in Snow Valley. I highly recommend it and I give Summer in Snow Valley five steaming hot cups of Room With Books coffee!

12 Days of Great Summer Reads – Summer in Snow Valley

First Love:

Janet Snow only agrees to go out with the man she’d written off ten years ago because it was understood–no complications. But after a trip to the hot springs, a helicopter ride, and a proposal Janet has to make a choice…play it safe or trust that her first love could also be her last.

Tin Foil Tiaras:

Cameron Elliott has come to Snow Valley to coach Annalisa Drake in the Miss Snow Valley pageant, and prove to her demanding boss that she deserves a place at the prestigious Westbrooke Agency. But Annalisa’s handsome and protective big brother, Kyle, is determined to keep his sister from becoming a reluctant beauty queen. He insists some things are more valuable than a title and as crazy as it sounds, Cameron might just believe him.

Love in Light and Shadow:

Mercedes O’Shay has sworn off gorgeous men because they have a tendency to break her heart. When she meets her new neighbor, Chet Bauer, she immediately puts him in the Do Not Date category based on his well-defined muscles and stunning blue eyes. But the more Mercedes learns about the cowboy who reads classics and forges iron, the more she realizes the heart doesn’t see in black and white; it sees light and shadows.

Romancing Rebecca:

Rebecca Dash would rather write about Jane Austen-type characters than hang out with her nerdy Chemical Engineering male lab partners—until a team of fire-fighters sets up camp on the lawns of the Starry Skies Bed & Breakfast and the devastatingly handsome, Captain Wade, catches her eye. Becca soon learns that there’s more to a happily-ever-after than flirty firemen with muscles the size of the Montana hills.

Catching Caytie:

To escape being trapped in an unwanted marriage, Caytie Holbrook hides out at her uncle’s ranch in Snow Valley, Montana. She intends to stay long enough to inherit a trust fund her grandmother left and then move to Italy…that is until she meets Jace McAllister, an incredibly sexy—although somewhat grumpy—cowboy who threatens to disrupt her plans

A Touch of Love:

Annie Stirland has endured a lifetime of teasing, embarrassment, and isolation due to her speech impediment. When irresistible cowboy, Luke Wilson, seems to be falling for her, she’s certain he’s too good to be true. His ex-girlfriend reappears and confirms her fears, but Luke isn’t ready to give Annie up.

First Love:

Taylor HartTaylor Hart has always been drawn to a good love triangle, hot chocolate and long conversations with new friends. Writing has always been a passion that has consumed her dreams and forced her to sit in a trance for long hours, completely obsessed with people that don’t really exist. Taylor would have been a country star if she could have carried a tune—maybe in the next life.

Love in Light and Shadow:

Her Christmas romance, Blue Christmas, was a top seller in seven Amazon categories on its own and in thirteen as part of the Christmas in Snow Valley Anthology.

Romancing Rebecca:

Kimberly MontpetitAward-winning author, Kimberley Montpetit AKA Kimberley Griffiths Little once spent all her souvenir money at the La Patisserie shops when she was in Paris—on the arm of her adorable husband. The author grew up in San Francisco, but currently lives in a small town along the Rio Grande with her big, messy family.

Kimberley reads a book a day and loves to travel. She’s stayed in the haunted tower room at Borthwick Castle in Scotland, sailed the Seine in Paris, swam in the ocean at Cannes, ridden a camel among the glorious cliffs of Petra, shopped the maze of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, and spent the night in an old Communist hotel in Bulgaria.

Catching Caytie:

Cindy RolandCindy Roland Anderson is the bestselling author of clean, contemporary romance filled with humor, romantic tension and some pretty great kissing scenes. Cindy is lucky to be married to her best friend John. They live in Northern Utah and are parents to five incredible children. Over the past few years their family has expanded by adding a son-in-law, a daughter-in-law and four adorable grandchildren. Cindy loves to read, almost as much as she loves writing. And she loves chocolate—probably a little too much.

Fun facts:

Taylor Hart
  • My favorite, favorite, favorite thing to do in the summer is pick up candy at fourth of July parades!
  • I have 4 boys that break lots of things and force me to watch youtube videos on how to fix stuff.

Lucy McConnell
  • Though she grew up in Utah, Lucy didn’t take up skiing until she was 32. It still scares her to look down a steep grade, but since her kids are usually half way down the hill before she gets up the nerve to push off, she has no choice but to suck it up and do her best.
  • She watched a horrendous amount of Christmas movies and DVRs them so she can watch them in the middle of the summer too.
  • Lucy bakes…a lot! But, she swears chocolate desserts come out better when mixed with a little Elvis Presley music. It’s totally true; you should try it.

Kimberley Montpetit
  • She loves to belly dance and once performed a tribal dance in a coffee house with her husband and three teenage sons in the audience. The group dance became a solo when the other dancers didn’t show. You can often find her shimmying while doing the dishes.
  • A die-hard lover of chocolate, Kimberley can eat a whole pan of brownies in a single day and loves ketchup on her spaghetti. It’s a childhood thing.

Cindy Roland
  • She has won a few things on the radio, like $5000 dollars when they were poor college students, and a trip to Mazatlan when Oliver North, a family friend to her in-laws, called the radio station to win the contest for who knew the most
    famous person.
  • Cindy once chased down a criminal in downtown Washington DC when she discovered he had just broken into several cars, including her mother-in-law’s. When the DC cops asked her what she was going to do with the guy if she’d caught him, she told them she wasn’t sure but wanted to tell him how wrong stealing was. That made them laugh, and one of them good-naturedly suggested her naivety might have something to do with where she was from as he pointed to the “I’m from Utah” T-shirt she had on. Incidentally, they also thanked her since the thief dropped two of the duffel bags he’d stolen out of one car in order to get away from the Utah woman chasing after him.

Cami Checketts
  • Cami is training for her third marathon and is hoping being over forty and in the hefty honey’s division (the race organizers call it something nice like Filly division) means she’ll finally win something.
  • Cami is much too obsessed with her four boys and loves watching them play lacrosse. From her 6’3″ 16-year-old defender to her 3’2″
4-year-old goalie, she cheers, drives hours to practice and games, bakes cookies for all the teams, and thinks lax Momma is the best title in the world.
