Run to Her

by Lynn Kellan

GENRE: Contemporary Romance

She avoids men like him. He needs a woman like her. One lie changes everything…

Gabriel Antonov is a mechanic who can fix anything, even a woman’s hesitance. His talents have earned him the well-deserved reputation as a player, but when a routine one-night stand goes wrong, he’s haunted by what he’s done. Nothing can free him from those depraved memories, until he meets Leigh Nelson.

Leigh avoids strong, silent types like Gabe, who is stronger and quieter than most guys. The only man she’s focused on is her father, who is suffering from a devastating health crisis. She’ll do anything to help him, even at the cost of ignoring her own well-being, but the stress is getting to her. Gabe’s strength is tough to resist, and his silence might be hiding a crushing secret only she can understand.

He can’t outrun his gut-deep craving for her. Problem is, she’s running from him. When they’re marooned in his lakeside cabin, he might finally catch her…if he can admit why he’s falling apart without her.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of RUN TO HER by Lynn Kellan for the purpose of an honest review.

It is always a pleasure to read a well written novel, and RUN TO HER by Lynn Kellan did not disappoint!

Ms. Kellan has written more than a boy meets girl, you know the rest right up until the HEA! She has written a story with heart, and hurt, and second chances. RUN TO HER feels incredibly real and was very hard to put down!

The realities of PTSD and it’s affects on those who suffer is not lost on me, as I’m all to familiar with those symptoms. Ms. Kellan handles it very honestly, without sensationalizing it.

I highly recommend RUN TO HER by Lynn Kellan and give it five steaming hot cups of Room With Books coffee!

A fat raindrop splattered on the porch screen. And another. Tiny fragments of water landed on Leigh’s shoulder like little kisses. A shiver trickled across her back, forcing her to step toward the center of the porch to avoid getting wet.

The carefree humor fled from his expression. His gaze dropped to the tips of her toes and slowly rose up her legs, her body, her face. Gabe locked eyes with her, reached out, and opened his hand.

An invitation.

She gazed at his broad palm and dark memories rose, fueled by a violent incident that flashed through her mind whenever a big man got close…but this man was different. Gabe used his considerable strength to protect, not dominate. Months ago, he’d pulled off the Interstate to help her when no one else had. After that, he’d showed up to run with her when no one else would. And a few minutes ago, he’d tamed his powerful Harley so she’d enjoy the ride when no one else seemed to care if she had any fun. Even tiny things like ladybugs received his special brand of kindness.

She had no reason to believe Gabe would willfully hurt her. Even so, her heart tripped at the sight of the thick rope of muscle along his arm.

Lynn Kellan writes contemporary romance about strong men who have a weakness for smart women. She believes men and women aren’t that different, because everyone wants to be with someone who will empty the dishwasher. To prepare for her career as a romance author, she fell in love with bad boys, burly athletes, battle-hardened Marines…and married a chemist. Lynn has won numerous writing contests and served two terms as President of her local Romance Writers of America chapter, but she feels a true sense of accomplishment whenever she doesn’t embarrass her teenaged kids.

For love. For funny. For ever.

BLURB:

Poised to become her overbearing father’s right-hand man, Jaye Davis is tired of being a faceless drone, writing software. She’d rather help real people—like the family who owns a struggling glassblowing factory in rural Pennsylvania. While she’s there, she might figure out how to squash the secrets gnawing at her.

Mitchell Blake and his father keep butting heads about expanding Blake Glassware, and now Mitch has to deal with his father’s consultant, Jaye. She claims online marketing will boost sales, but Mitch insists broadening their product line will increase revenue. Arguing with this doe-eyed woman makes one thing perfectly clear: she has the power to shatter his safe, lonely life.

Jaye’s got four weeks to save his glassblowing factory, but he detests her marketing plan. She’s got no place to live, but he has an extra bedroom in his house. She’s got secrets, but living with a glassblower who can see right through her would be an enormous mistake…or would it?

EXCERPT:

Her insides kinked. A few minutes ago, she hit him in the nuts and called him a murderous sex maniac. Now, he had very good reason to fire her.

“You must be Mitch Blake.” She angled the flashlight at her chest. The bright light beamed off the ruffled white blouse peeking from the lapels of her blazer. “Your father hired me.”

Mitch’s gaze dropped to her skirt. “I’m supposed to meet someone named Jayson Davis.”

“I’m Jayson, but I’d rather you call me Jaye. Sorry about the confusion. If it’s any consolation, this isn’t the first time someone didn’t expect me. My father was convinced I’d be a boy. He liked the name Jayson too much to change it.” The confession eroded her confidence. Would Mitch be another man she’d never please?

The muscles along his jaw tightened, hard as the cold pavement. “Does my father know you’re a woman?”

“I have no idea. We made arrangements via email. He never asked.” Mitchell Blake was acting like a sexist oaf who thought women didn’t belong in a factory. Jaye gripped the flashlight, tempted to whack him in the nuts again. “Your father said he’d provide a place for me to live during our four-week contract. Could you point me to the hotel?”

“You’re not staying at a hotel.” Mitch’s terse words bounced off the road. “You’re living with me.”

The Strong, Silent Type

by Lynn Kellan

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Cover_TheStrongSilentTypeIf he breaks his silence about the scars marring his face, will the truth drive her away?
Tina Hudson’s busy sales job is a welcome distraction from her empty house and memories of the husband she lost to cancer, but she’s tired of running from her loneliness. Tina suspects her brawny neighbor has been leaving single red roses in her mailbox, but he’s the strong, silent type-the kind that should come with a warning label.
Wade Scott felt dead inside over the loss of his son and the disintegration of his marriage. When Tina moves next door, Wade comes alive again. Problem is, she’s a beautiful sales whiz and he’s an ordinary plumber with a wicked scar along his temple. The truth of his past might drive her away. With little hope of attracting her attention, he showers her with anonymous acts of kindness.
When Tina realizes Wade is the guardian angel who’s been watching over her for the past six months, she invites him to dinner. New Year’s Eve is approaching, a perfect time to start over…but Wade’s stoic silence drives a wedge in their burgeoning relationship. Should she take a new job that will put her on the run again, or take a chance the strong, silent type might fill her heart-and her home-with love?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

He set down the wine glass with a soft thump. “You invited me to dinner to get Austin off your back, right?”

Whoa. Nothing like a blunt question to ruin the mood. Tina’s spirits took a nosedive, crashing somewhere in the pit of her stomach. She wiped her mouth on a napkin, smoothing away the telltale quiver along her bottom lip.

“Not entirely. I’ve been meaning to invite you for dinner.” She regretted lighting the candle in the center of the polished dining room table. The obvious attempt at romance had gone unnoticed. Or ignored. “You’re always doing nice things for me. I wanted to reciprocate.”

“You already thanked me last night.” Wade’s thick forefinger tapped the opaque green bottle of Merlot. “Why the fifty dollar wine? The good china?” Hazel eyes skimmed up her burgundy sweater, targeting the loose brunette curl dangling from the elegant clip holding up the rest of her hair. “The way you look?”

Desire glimmered in his appraising gaze. Tina could tell he liked what he saw, but the rigid ligaments along his forearm indicated he would not reach for her.

Why wouldn’t Wade act on his impulses? She lowered her gaze, rubbing a thumb along the crisp crease of her gray slacks. Could he tell she was out of practice and a little scared?

Okay, she was terrified—but maybe a dose of honesty would boost her courage. “It’s been a long time since I’ve had dinner with someone. I wanted everything to be… nice.” Tina forced herself to give voice to what had been bouncing around in her mind for the past few weeks. “To tell you the truth, I’m tired of feeling empty and alone. I’m ready for something good to happen.”
