About the Book

Living in Southern California, Cheyenne was used to seeing hot military men as she went about her daily business. An anonymous encounter at the grocery store cemented her crush on one such man. He was big, built, and incredibly easy on the eyes, but it wasn’t as if he would ever really notice her.

Always in control of any situation, Faulkner “Dude” Cooper knows explosives. As a bomb expert, he’s lived through many high pressure situations. Disfigured by a bomb while on a mission, he’s used to being looked at with pity. When he’s called to a local supermarket to assist the local PD, the last thing he expects to find is a generous act of kindness performed by a beautiful, amazing woman. Enchanted by her selflessness in the face of danger and intrigued by her actions to save civilians she didn’t know, Dude’s hooked.

Dude was able to save Cheyenne from the group of thugs trying to take her life, but when the past comes back to haunt them both, sometimes having the knowledge and the desire isn’t enough to beat the countdown of the clock.

**Protecting Cheyenne is the 5th book in the SEAL of Protection Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s recommended you read the books in order to get maximum enjoyment out of the series.

Cheyenne felt cocooned in Faulkner’s arms. He sat still and quiet behind her as he took her into his arms. She felt warm for the first time since she’d left the coffee shop that afternoon. She sighed. She needed this, she needed Faulkner.

“Hey,” she said softly.

“I should’ve called. I’m sorry.”

“It’s okay, Shy.”

“No, it’s really not. I’m sorry if I worried you. I just…I thought you’d be mad. You told me to call you and I didn’t. Then it all just snowballed in my head. The longer I went without calling you, the more mad I thought you’d get.”

Her voice fell enough that Dude had to lean forward and turn his head to hear her.

“I don’t like it when you’re mad at me. Even though you haven’t really even been mad at me yet, I can’t stand the thought of you being mad at me. I think that’s what it was. I want to make you happy.”

Cheyenne interrupted him. “And now, I’ve disappointed you. I don’t know which is worse really. ****, I’m not like this. I’m not a wuss. The only thing I can say in my defense is that I had a bad day.”

Dude had enough of this. He scooted himself around until he was sitting at Cheyenne’s side. “Stop, Shy. I’m not mad and you didn’t disappoint me. You worried me. There’s a huge difference.”

“I didn’t mean to.”

“I know. But we need to talk about this. We should’ve talked before now and that’s on me. You aren’t used to this. I love how we are. I love how you do what I tell you in our bed. I can’t tell you what it means to me. I crave that. I need that. But outside the bedroom? No. I love the contradiction that is you. You’re not afraid to call out my friends when they say dumb shit.”

He kissed the top of her head and continued. “I’m going to get mad, Shy. I’m probably going to yell at some point. It doesn’t mean I don’t love you. Don’t be afraid of me. Don’t be scared to tell me to **** off. If I overwhelm you, tell me. Remember when I told you we don’t need safe words? It still holds, Shy. If you need me to back off, just say the word and I will.”

“You love me?”

“Yes. I’ve waited for you my whole life. Not someone like you, but you. I know you don’t have the experience to realize this, but what we have in the bedroom is unique. Unique and special. It’s something I’ve never had with anyone else, ever. And it’s not just about the sex. It’s about who you are as a person. We’ve gotten to know each other over the last couple of months and I like you Cheyenne.”

 Protecting Jessyka

About the Book

Kason “Benny” Sawyer was the last single man on his Navy SEAL team. He loved his teammates like brothers and respected each and every one of their women. They’d all been through hell and they deserved their current happiness. But seeing the love between his friends and their women made it tough to be the odd man out all the time.

Jessyka Allen had a good life, until it wasn’t anymore. Finding herself in an impossible situation, with no noticeable way out, her job was an escape. Working at the small Bar and Grill put her in contact with some wonderful people, who Jess figured couldn’t ever understand what she was going through.

Being a SEAL, Benny thought he knew the true meaning of teamwork and friendship. But Jess would show him that everything he thought he knew about sacrifice, trust, and love, paled in comparison to what she brought into his world.

**Protecting Jessyka is the 6th book in the SEAL of Protection Series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it’s recommended you read the books in order to get maximum enjoyment out of the series.

Protecting-Caroline**Protecting Caroline is a stand-alone love story. It is Book 1 in the SEAL of Protection Series**

Matthew “Wolf” Steel hated flying commercial. Luckily his job as a Navy SEAL meant he didn’t have to do it very often. He’d been unlucky enough to be assigned a middle seat on the cramped jet, but fortunately for him, the woman next to him was willing to switch seats with him. Hoping for a relaxing flight, Wolf was pleasantly surprised at the good conversation and sense of humor the woman had as they flew 36,000 feet over the countryside.

When Caroline boarded the plane to Virginia to move across the country for her new job she never expected to be seated next to the hottest guy she’d ever seen. She also never expected he’d be so easy to talk to. She knew he’d never be interested in talking to her if he hadn’t been trapped in the seat next to her, but it was a nice way to spend a long plane ride.

Neither Wolf nor Caroline were prepared for a terrorist hijacking of their plane, but if Caroline thought that would be the last time she’d see, or need, Wolf, she’d be sorely mistaken.

Start the SEAL of Protection Series with Caroline and Wolf’s story.

Wolf didn’t say anything, just did what he’d desired to do the first time he saw her in the room. He reached over and gathered her into his arms. She was stiff at first, then she melted into him. She smelled of some sort of flowers. Maybe it was her shampoo, maybe it was a lotion she used, but it went straight to his head. He tightened his arms around her and Caroline lost it. She cried. She cried for being scared on the plane, she cried for being hurt, she cried remembering how alone and scared she felt in her apartment when only a thin piece of plastic kept a killer from knowing she was in the bathroom, she cried in relief that Matthew was back from his mission. Matthew rocked her and held her tight. He wasn’t used to a woman’s tears, but there was no way he was letting her go.

Finally her tears dried up and she only sniffed here and there. Wolf drew back a bit and looked at her face. She wasn’t a “cute crier”—her face was red and blotchy. She refused to raise her eyes. Wolf rubbed her cheeks with his thumbs and then lifted her chin up so Caroline had to look at him. He didn’t say anything just leaned down and touched her lips with his. It wasn’t a passionate kiss, but it felt right. It was a comforting kiss. It was exactly what she needed from him at that moment.

He pulled back and looked into her eyes. “You’re safe now. I’ll do everything in my power to make sure you stay that way.”

Caroline believed him. He was an honest to God hero. And for the moment, he was her hero. She tipped her chin up, reaching again for his lips with hers.

The second she moved, he was there. Wolf had tried to hold back with her. She was feeling vulnerable and he didn’t want to take advantage of her. But with the first touch of her lips against him, he was lost.

It is my pleasure to welcome Susan Stoker, author of Protecting Caroline, to Room With Books.

What do you do when you are not writing?

I work full time at a University. I process paperwork all day. Sounds fun doesn’t it?

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as an adult?

I’m not sure it was any one book or author. I know I always loved to read and that combined with my imagination lead me to writing my own stories. I’ve been reading romances since middle school so I think I was predisposed to write romances myself.

Can you tell us about your challenges in getting your first book published?

I think the biggest challenges for a lot of people is confidence. I mean, I had my first published book done for YEARS before it was put out in the world, and I had only let three people read it. Three. It’s a matter of being judged. I still feel that way. It’s not that I think my stories are the best thing ever, it’s more that I like reading them and it’s hard to put them out there and find that others find them stupid, or a waste of time.

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

To be able to fly.

What was your first job?

Teaching swim lessons. I still remember treading water in the deep end below the 1 meter diving board watching the look in a four year olds face right before they launched themselves at my head.

What types of books do you write?

Romance. Right now contemporary romance, but maybe in the future paranormal romance. But they always always have a happy ever after ending.

Who’s your main audience?

Anyone really. My first series is pretty tame and is “safe” for teenagers. My second series, the SEAL series gets a bit more sexy, but they are not erotica by any stretch.

Out of all of your characters, which is your favorite?

Fiona. She is the main character in the third book in the SEAL series which should be out in January. She goes through so much and tries so hard to get over it, but in the end she’s just as human as you and me and she needs the help from her friends and her man. I can’t wait until people meet her!

What does your writing schedule look like?

I typically write on the weekends. It’s hard for me to write during the week after working all day, so weekdays are typically for promoting and chatting with friends and fans, and then on the weekends I try to knuckle down and get some serious writing done.

Do you use your OWN experiences?

Some yes. I don’t think there’s an author out there that doesn’t use some of what he or she thinks or has experienced. Outback Hearts has the most of “me” in it (favorite movie, swimming, etc), but there are parts of me in everything I write.

Was it easy to pick the title for your book?

No way. Titles are so hard. But once I got the first title down, the rest in the SEAL series was easy, since they’re all the same. (i.e. Protecting and then the name of the heroine)

If you could pick one profession besides an author, what would you choose?

I have no idea. I STILL don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.

What are you currently working on?

I’m working on editing and cleaning up the SEAL series books. They are all written, but everytime I read through them I add or subtract stuff. I am going to write a novella for the SEAL series due out in Feb. I am also thinking about what I want to write next…I’m thinking Texas Rangers maybe.

What is your favorite flavor of ice cream? Vanilla (I know, boring! Lol)
Night owl, or early bird? Early bird. I’m wilting by 10pm!
Red, or white wine? Neither. Can’t stand the taste.
Roller Coasters or Water Rides? Oooh, tough choice. I love both. Roller coasters, as long as I don’t have to wait in line!
Swimming in the ocean or a pool? Pool
Walking or fitness club? If I’m forced to work out…walking.

Any last words?

Be kind. I’ve seen so many mean things online and in person. People just don’t think about how their words or actions can affect people. Whether you’ve read a horrible book and want to leave a mean review, or if you think the person in front of you in line isn’t doing his/her job. Take a deep breath and let it go. Seriously, life is too short to be mired in drama and meanness.

I couldn’t agree with you more! Thank you, Susan, for chatting with our readers today, and for allowing Room With Books to be part of your tour!

About the Author:

Susan-StokerSusan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Texas where she lives but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, and Indiana. She is quite the romantic and even met the love of her life on “Hotmail classified” before online dating and sites like even existed!

Susan has been reading romance novels since middle school and once crossed out the names of the main characters in a book and changed them to her own and to the name of her crush. She’s been writing scenes for years, developing her unique writing style.

Susan loves writing but her true passion is adopting dogs from rescue groups and shelters. Susan and her husband have had a total of nine “rescued” dogs since 2000 including a variety of basset hounds and bloodhounds. She has recently branched out and adopted a basset/terrier mix who acts more like a terrier than a basset (i.e. digging, eating a couch and being hyper).
