The Casa Christmas Blog Hop @SourcebooksCasa
Christmas is just around the corner and romance novelists Samantha Chase, Kim Redford and Terry Spear are here to help get you in the holiday spirit by sharing their (and their characters’) favorite holiday tradition!
Samantha Chase (The Christmas Cottage/Ever After):
Wow…we have so many that it’s hard to choose just one. The one that we have the most fun with now – especially since my kids are 15 and 23 – is the tradition of giving new pajamas on Christmas Eve. It’s the first (and sometimes only) gift they get to open and my older son gets so frustrated with me every year! When Modern Family did a Christmas episode and they mentioned getting new Christmas pajamas as their one gift on Christmas Eve, I just about cracked up!
Lacey and her mom always bake together for the holidays. At Thanksgiving they bake pies but for Christmas it’s cookies. It’s something they’ve done her whole life and it’s time that they spend alone – just the two of them – so it makes it even more special.
Kim Redford (A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas):
I like to go with a big family group in one or more vehicles at night to see the annual Choctaw Christmas event. We drive around the Choctaw Nation Capital grounds to see fabulous, colorful, twinkling holiday displays such as an Old West stagecoach drawn by horses or Gingerbread figures dressed in traditional Choctaw clothes. After we’ve seen all the wonderful sights, we go to the exit where we’re given hot chocolate and the current year’s special Choctaw tree ornament. And best of all, the Choctaw Christmas is open to everyone.
As for Trey, Wildcat Bluff’s annual Christmas in the Country draws quite a crowd to hear live Country-Western Christmas music, eat fresh popped kettle corn and other goodies, and enjoy a hayride through legendary Lollipop Lane.
Terry Spear (A Silver Wolf Christmas):
Opening a present Christmas Eve and watching Christmas movies with my family. Nothing is more important to me than sharing time with my family, and making new memories. I have horrible Internet with limited usage, so we were trying to find Christmas movies that I didn’t have to watch and it was too late in the season to pick any up at the stores. So my son-in-law wiped out my whole month of Internet time to try and download a movie, and it wouldn’t download anyway. It was funny, just part of making Christmas memories that will be remembered forever and we played games instead.
My heroine, Laurel, plans on taking my hero up on his offer of more private ski lessons, and she’s already planning for next year’s snow sculpture with CJ and a shot at winning the prize – steak dinners at the tavern.

New York Times and USA Today bestseller Samantha Chase released her debut novel, Jordan’s Return, in November 2011. Although she waited until she was in her forties to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. Teaching creative writing to students from elementary through high school and encouraging those students to follow their writing dreams motivated Samantha to take that step as well. Stay With Me (Montgomery Brothers book 3) hit the USA Today bestseller list upon its debut. Catering to the CEO was included in the romance bundle Loving the CEO, a five-book package that made the New York Times and the USA Today bestseller lists. In March 2013, The Christmas Cottage was nominated for two Indie Romance Convention Awards—Best Indie Romance Novella and Best Indie Contemporary Romance—while Samantha was nominated for Indie Author of the Year. When she’s not working on a new story, she spends her time reading contemporary romances, blogging, playing Scrabble on Facebook, and spending time with her husband of twenty-four years and their two sons in North Carolina.
