A handsome knight and true love are the recipe for breaking the evil spell that enslaves Carolennea, all in time for Christmas.

Genre: Christmas Fairy Tale Romance

About the Book

Ensorcelled and enslaved by her evil uncle, Carolennea has lost her sweet voice and sews the impossibly beautiful clothing he sells in his tailor shop. But this yuletide season will bring a new customer: a handsome knight for whom she will brave her uncle’s wrath—and who in return will help break the spell. Sir Ardin will set free her fingers, her voice…and her heart.

Burning. Her throat was burning and raw with heat. Her breathing labored as she gasped for air, cooling air to ease her pain.

He moved off of her and stood scowling down at her, his hands on his hips.

Water, wine, anything to stop the burning. Please.

She reached out to him to implore him, trying to speak, to beg for something cool to drink. Her mouth and tongue moved as if normal, past the burning pain, yet not even the smallest, lowest whisper of a word floated past her lips.

Alarmed, she tried again. Then she screamed— a silent scream that raised not a sound in the forest. Carolennea, the girl with the sweetest songbird voice in the village, had lost the ability to sing.

Hot tears rolled down her face as she mouthed, “What have you done to me?”

Uncle Trad laughed and moved off, toward the village, throwing his words over his shoulder. “Get home and to bed, wench.”

From that day on, though she was but a child, not even a half-grown girl, he would only call her wench, never by her own name. The rest of the townsfolk would soon learn not to address her at all.

Book Review

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of The Twelve Stitches of Christmas by Debra Parmley and Robert Arrow in exchange for an honest review.

It was my pleasure to sit and read The Twelve Stitches of Christmas by Debra Parmley and Robert Arrow. It is a very short story that takes no time at all to read but contains all the best, and essential, elements of a fairy tale.

I was caught up in Carolennea’s story from the very beginning of the story. I hated Uncle Thad from his first appearance on the scene. She is the most sympathetic of “damsels in distress” and he is the most despicable “villain”. This story is one of years of abuse and neglect portrayed by Parmley and Arrow crafted in the most vivid terms.

The Twelve Stitches of Christmas by Debra Parmley and Robert Arrow is a delightful Christmas fairy tale and I applaud this writing duo as the twenty-first century’s Brothers Grimm.

I highly recommend The Twelve Stitches of Christmas by Debra Parmley and Robert Arrow and I give it five piping hot cups of Room With Books coffee.

Robert Arrow

Robert Arrow is an adventurer who has always preferred the bow over the sword, thought he carries both. “Protection is the responsibility of the individual.” While he does travel by horseback, he will always choose to float down a river whenever it is an option.

Known to wander between the great cities of Memphis, Little Rock, Hattisburg, and Shreveport, his home can be found on the western edge of the Parsonage, close to the lake from whence comes its name. Currently, he is in longing search of some fair damsel in distress to come to the rescue for, or a capable lady to share his adventures, and is actively accepting applications for the position.
